Chromedome works surprisingly well in evoking the feel of the MTMTE comic, much less so in evoking the 80's toy/character. So I suspect this will be a marmite figure!

Indeed. It's a good fit and a good colour scheme, but I wonder how out of place he'll look next to the CHUG-based MTMTE characters. Prime Wheeljack is a wee smout of a guy, and Chromedome always looked pretty hefty. Still, closer than the Fansproject version.

The badly photoshopped on head isnt helping me decide if I like it or not. I hope it's photoshopped anyway.
It looks too big as it is though. Also stupidly large autobot symbol.
Size wise Trailcutter isnt a big deluxe. Whirl is meant to be bigger. Which others are there? IDW BB, Megs and Orion Pax I guess, I'm missing something arent I.

Until they do pre-AHM, IDW based toys have no interest to me more than as additional classics. The only use that megatron has for me is waiting until the Dreadwing comes out, doing a headswap, and making a BWII BB out of it.
Thanks to Andy loaning me his, I cracked open Breakdown. I have to say it is the prettiest version of the mold yet. The Bone White and dark blue look good on it, and it's far less boring than Sideswipe was. Still, G2 is my favorite version. However, it's really showing it's age now, given it's the most used mold since Classics Starscream. His legs have virtually no tightness at all.
Also, addording to his bio, he originates from the Blackthorn 3D comicverse. That's kinda cool, but I still wish in vein they would leave multiverse shinnanigans out of the bios.

Chromedome is doing nothing for me; the car mode isn't terrible, but I'm not feeling the robot mode at all. The "hunchedness" of that mould doesn't help; I never thought it suited Wheeljack (even if it is the Prime incarnation of that name), though it does work well for Wildrider. Swords don't really fit either for my money.
So just Treadshot and Catgut for me from this batch.
Breakdown does look quite good; always found this mould to be a terrible Sideswipe but a rather good Breakdown. Almost tempted to acquire one to go with the G2 version.
The more pictures I see the more I'm looking forward to my Circuit though, clear winner for me from both years...

Yeah Circuit looks awesome, its the only one I'm really excited about any more.
I think I'd be more excited about the set if I had this years already.
It's strange I use to really like the universe Sideswipe mould, but it's become increasingly annoying to me. I think it's that the legs are clearly Binaltech Sunstreaker inspired which looks great on Sunstreaker but the mould has been used twice for the Sunstreaker repaints (if you include PCP)Every other repaint has used the Sideswipe mode which doesnt look right with the legs or would have looked better if they could be rotated to look more Sideswipe.

Yeah, plus the hood of the car sitting over the stomach with that huge gap in the chest also looks awkward, off, and boring. The knee guards don't bother me much on the sideswipe half, but the way the toy is designed, there is no reason that they couldn't have made the lower legs be able to rotate to use the top side of the car. No reason at all to have given the ankles just a little bit more give to stand properly.
Though, as for using the Sunstreaker transformation for things... Aside from counterpunch, I can't really think of anything that would look right. I tried putting Breakdown in that, just to make him different and... wow. He really didn't look good. I have to say I really am at a blank for what the Sunstreaker transformation could be used for.

Well to my surprise the set is actually cheaper than last years, while there is clearly less plastic than last time 10 characters against last years 6 convinced me FP would at least maintain the price if not raise it.
But attempting to go to the subscription site brings up a warning about an expired security certificate. Perfect timing as always FP.

Really annoying. You sure it's not some glitch? To the subject, yeah. I assumed that like everything else, since last/this year's was a success, if for no other reason than that alone, they'd have raised the price by at least $20, if not $50. I mean Botcon gets more and more successful, more and more people buying the toys, and they make more and more of them, that only seems to encourage them to raise the price even when there seems to be no real reason (A more expensive set may have few figures, while inflation stayed relatively the same). The fact this year's is cheaper is an absolute shock. Only thing I can think of is maybe they sold more than they thought they would last year, are expecting similar numbers this year and have adjusted the cost to that? Good for them for actually making it cheaper instead of trying to bilk us for more, just because they could.

Their certificate expired on Friday; I would say they forgot to set some kind of reminder but I'm pretty sure Verisign would email you when the date is getting close (at the very least).

Nope, almost certainly last on the list, so likely to arrive in time for Christmas. FP should fit them with little Santa Hats.

Really annoying. You sure it's not some glitch? That might be something out of date on your computer as my phone does the same and I've never updated it. This warning is something everyone is getting in all browsers. I'm sure its safe if you proceed, but given FPs track record no way am I taking the risk. To the subject, yeah. I assumed that like everything else, since last/this year's was a success, if for no other reason than that alone, they'd have raised the price by at least $20, if not $50. Only thing I can think of is maybe they sold more than they thought they would last year, are expecting similar numbers this year and have adjusted the cost to that? Good for them for actually making it cheaper instead of trying to bilk us for more, just because they could. You could probably interpret it either way. They sold more than expected meaning a cheaper per unit price and this years cost is based on last years results. But when has FP ever worked that way, with Botcon the 2 clearly most in demand pieces have always been the custom class and troop builder which have each upped as much as Savage has thought would be paid. The other possibility is that last year undersold, not enough for it to be dropped but enough for them to reconsider the format and go with more but smaller toys at a slightly lower price. Thers also Botcon failing to sell out of anything aside from the troop builder this year. Maybe they know they went over the price ceiling, especially for less than stellar toys and dont want to take any risks with the subs.

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PAYMENT DETAILS WHILE THAT NOTICE IS UP.

@boga Yeah, that's another way to look at it that I didn't consider. I mean, I know they're dangerously close to that cost ceiling. I mean my god, a botcon set is now only slightly cheaper than a full set of Maketoy's Giant. And it's probably certain that they make more Primus sets than MT did constructicons. Their security is out of date? Why the fuck are people still giving them money? What more do they have to get wrong? DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PAYMENT DETAILS WHILE THAT NOTICE IS UP. -Ralph That only works if you're not a member. They keep all youd information on hand, and they don't even give you the choice anymore if you want to re-enlist or not, when your membership is up. They automatically renew you against your will. I actually had forgotten about that this year, and so I'm a member for next year, too.

Ultra Mammoth is AWESOME!
There are some odd deco choices (blue mammoth fading to white? I'd have reversed it), but all in all, he's just bloody fantastic! By far the best of the subservice!
He really makes me wish that cybertron optimus had been redecoed into ultra magnus at some point, because I'd have turned around and had that repurposed into maximal prebeast ultra mammoth.
For the bad, the mold is sadly starting to show it's age in various ways. Mostly in it's joints. But it's still a much stronger toy than anything from prime.

I love it, and the best concept they have next year. Something that is thinking outside the box, and something hasbro would never even think to give us.
Certainly a lot better than a wrong barricade
