Looks pretty chunky in robot mode next to Grimlock, less refined. Lumpy. Really hoping it's just a by product of poor posing/photography as the dino mode is very nice. Not helped by minimal paint apps either; very basic plain grey figure.
Yes, those two next to each other don't even look like they're from the same range.

Didn't realise there were quite so many Platinum editions coming from different retailers. They seem to be stepping that line up. It's almost like Hasbro are trying to say, "See, we can do it as well as Takara, but it'll cost you more."
Shame there isn't a seven figure Platinum set for the Dinobots, that would hold most appeal and may steer me away from hankering after this SDCC Ark set.

The only thing that's disappointing me so far is the small number of Evasion Mode Optimus repaints. He's not been repainted enough yet. We need more. Try harder, Hasbro and Takara!

Yep, there's going to be one in Japan. I can't remember what for though. I think it was a convention exclusive.
Don't forget the rusty version, too. Or did you mean that version from one of yours?
Oh, and the Milk magazine, "dropped in mud" version.

I've heard that the movie toyline was underperforming, wouldn't surprise me. CAN'T IMAGINE WHY.

Interesting, it says it doesn't ship to the UK. Maybe that'll change down the line. I'll have that if I can get the others.
It does seem a fairly small line, the AoE one. But then they seem to be stepping up Generations releases, and from the start of next year the new RID toys will arrive.
I notice that says - "Part of the Thrilling 30 Collection (#18)" - I'd forgotten about that, is that still going? the numbering system that had all the Metroplexii variants in and made no sense?

Bizarre list that. There's no number on the Evolutions boxes. I can't see one at any rate. They do have the '30' logo though.

Stop tormenting me with pictures of lovely shiny G1 coloured Dinobots! ARG! (332, heh). They do look nice, but they're still the movie aesthetic, not my favourite!

Yes... but... AWESOMENESS!!11!! Apart from Dinobots I own one movie aesthetic toy from the entire canon; I agree they're rubbish. Except for the Dinobots. The Dinobots just work, and in G1 colours they're brilliant.

We've seen these Platinum sets before, but BBTS have just announced them with a nice all in one image. I'm just thinking Sifu was talking about Crosshairs in the SDCC thread, these ones look as good as the Takara jobs. Although these images are photoshopped obviously. Dinobots look nice Pity it's Scorn in there and not Snarl.

Man, had the added Slash, Snarl, Galvatron, Lockdown, and evasion Bumbles, they'd have had every unique mold in the lot.
They could have swung it pretty easily, too. Split the dinobots up to the four who were in the movie, and the three who weren't. Put Evasion Bee in the fivepack, and reformatted Bee in with the prime trailer set. And put Galvatron, Lockdown, and Stinger in their own set.

Also, I wouldn't list the milk magazine version. It's a hand made one off custom for a contest.

After spending a week running around to every walmart except the one closest to me (because they never stock anything new), I finally found the AoE BW repaints...
At the walmart closest to me, when I ran up there for water.
Nothing to say about the legion figures. Bumblebee is bumblebee, optimus is optimus, stinger is red sideways. Though for the first time, I now wish there were active cyberverse figures, with new legion and commanders. Because these sets just highlight that FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER WE COULD HAVE A BITCHIN' IN SCALE DISPLAY, between the cars all being legion, optimus, galvatron, and hound all commanders, and all the dinobots deluxe and Voyager. I suppose Gen Legends Optimus could be a good stand in for evasion op, for Voy Grimlock.
Aaaaanyway...
Strafe is wonderful. The Terrorsaur mold looks beautiful in deep blue and black. I think the mold has been repaired. The last time it was used (walmart dinobot swoop/pterannotron), it was feeling it's age. It wasn't terrible, but it was starting to get loose. Now he feels brand new, and he has new copyright info stamped on his wing, almost on top of the old.
Slug is starting to feel his age. Things don't line up as well, but over all is still tight. Still given how heavily it's been used, it's held up well. Looks real nice in purple, red, black, and white. But he could use a bit more painted detailing in dino mode. Things like toenails and his beak really needed paint.
Grimlock is GORGEOUS. Seriously, black, copper, and cool gray is AMAZING on this mold. It's definitely wearing down though.
Beast fans will be very happy with these. I plan to give them all new identities and put them on my bw shelves

Can I suggest BW Swoop for Strafe? Obvious I know, but the blue is a nice match for Swoop's animated chest plate.
How much were yours? Mine cost £8 per pair which is about $13

$15 each, here.
I've got a lot of G1 guys around in my BW repurposes (including TFP Dark Energon Op and Megs as Sureshot and Archforce), so I'm thinking of leaving the name Strafe, and just figuring out a new personality (maybe a new girl)
