And I don't care what anyone says, G1 Grimlock sucks as a toy, when compared to something modern, like energon Grimlock, who has full articulation AND a combining ability with Swoop, who's also getting a similar release. G1 Grimlock may appeal more to collectors, but it's a fairly static toy with circumstantial articulation and such an archaic representation of a dinosaur, most kids wouldn't recognize it. E-Grimlock is a fun TOY, and that's what most adult collectors who bash it never seem to realize. It's a toy that doesn't buy into that year's combining gimmick so has to sit by itself. The example I had was loose and floppy. It has no weapons and even if you wanted to give it some you can't because it can' hold the standard size weapons for that year. It's a bad bad toy philstfreviews.site11.com/engDinobot.htmlwww.eyrie.org/~dvandom/BW/Energon/Mega4www.tfw2005.com/resources/energon-autobots-166/grimlock-and-swoop-847/

Slug? Are they going to use Animated Snarl do you think? There isn't another option I can think of.
Despite the negative opinions of Grimlock and Swoop and my own general dislike of the Energon combiner gimmick I've always wanted the pair. If Swoop ends up in G1 colours I'll be tempted by them.
I'd much rather G1 reissues though.

I'd love a G1 coloured Guiledart/ Triceradon as Slag! I did here it suggested that Slug & Swoop might have the Minicon versions with them. If this is true there will table flippage here. If you've got views on which are the best best Grimlocks the we did him on Week 23 of Top 5 Toys Late submissions always accepted!

I hate to say it, but looking at Energon Grimlock's TFU entry this one does look better. And the packaging - you can hardly see the toys within because the artwork is covering them up!

Protoform Prime is odd but I really like the mould so am kind of tempted.
Dispensor, as I'll never get a real one is again tempting.

Who is the black sports car at the bottom of the page? I recognise the rest of these re-colours, but not him.

Unknown, but those are just a bunch of filler toys Takara is doing. Can't be seen as an indicator of who is, or isn't in the movie.

I didn't even know Soundwave was in the third movie even though I had seen it. I thought that was the other grey car Decepticon.

I've put together a Movie Soundwave identification guide:
1. Is it a car? Yes - go to 2 No - go to 6
2. Does it have tentacles? Yes - go to 3 No - go to 5
3. Is it a movie line character? Yes - go to 4 No - go to 5
Answer 4. It's Soundwave
5. It's another car guy
6. It's someone else
Thank goodness there isn't a Kiss Player Soundwave

Sorry! For some reason I've got Phil and Knightbeat muddled up there!
Knightbeat, YOUR guide is superior, particularly because you mention tentacles.
I've altered my various posts to make sense. Good job I'm pretty....

I thought it was dreadful the moment I saw it. A toy that's shaped like G1 vehicle mode that turns into a movie robot? no thank you.

Well, what appealed to me is that it's actually closer to what I thought movieformers would, and should look like. In robot mode he largely looks like a proper transformer. Alt mode parts on the outside making it recognizable, pretty well armored looking without its literal guts open for all the world to see, but more advanced than toys or cartoons. And not at all the completely alt mode unrecognizable walking skeletal evas we got.

Yeah, yeah he does. The pictures do admittedly look underwhelming, but the review says that he's a fun toy to play with, so that pretty much sells it for me. I've written off other Primes before because they've looked bad (Energon Prime, I'm looking at- well, I'm trying not to look at you), but have then changed my mind once I've found out that they're fun in hand (yep, Energon Prime, you're redeemed). So that kind of sells it for me.
Now the question is: Do I buy it when it appears in the shops, or do I wait a couple of years and hope for a Home Bargains-shaped miracle..?

E-Prime is a great point. If Cyb Prime wasn't one of the best toys in the franchise, E-Prime (ugly as it is) would be one of the best of the UT. It was an amazingly fun toy to play with.
But what's killing evasion optimus for me is literally the arm/elbows. I *hate* when the hands are attached so that the elbows only turn inward, like BW10 Primal/Cyb Gorilla Prime. That ruined that mold for me, totally.

I've said for a long while that E Prime is a good paint job away from looking great. two red limbs, two blue/black limbs.
