I think the re-branding of a physical copy may have to be the way to go!!

More keen than I was.
What you'll want to do then, is get paper and pritt stick/glue it over the balloons. Tippex or whiteout would damage the paper too much.

That's the idea right enough! I'm trying to wheedle out of him what his top 5 Batman stories are (single issues only) and just got back "F*ck off, I can't be arsed getting it down to just five..."
More work needed!

Remedy that - gorgeous colouring and Miller/Janson at the top of their game.

I red hazed and bought it. Tenner for a hardback edition. Cheapest trade version in FPE was £18 for a flimsy feeling softcover.
And this is why partwork comics are selling!

Dark Knight Returns is that 80s one that people revere like Watchmen isn't it?
I did buy that once. Totally underwhelmed, sold it on.

I'm probably a lost cause not really being a fan of Batman generally, but I really did have a "oh, is that it?" when I read it. I get its place in comics history, but I just didn't think it very interesting.

I too may need the HC.

I get its place in comics history, but I just didn't think it very interesting. There is a certain element of 'you had to be there at the time'. Within the context of comics at the time it was mind-blowing. A real game changer. I can understand readers coming to it now being underwhelmed. Many many many comics have copied or been influenced by it since. -Ralph

I read it years ago and I'm capable of reading things in context, I just didn't think it was very good. Even contemporarily.

I don't think I explained my meaning properly. It would be better for me to say 'in that exact period of time' rather than 'context'.
