Shockprowl, whatever you do, DO NOT READ DK2. -Ralph Oh gosh! Ok, Roger that, Doc'. Andu will tell you otherwise but it is one of THE WORST COMICS OF ALL TIME. It still makes me angry how that was seen fit to be published. There is a DK3 but I never read it after the shitfest that was DK3. I think DK4 is still coming. -Ralph

It is VERY good. My first ever DC purchase 30 odd years ago.
Have you read Year 1 and Killing Joke?

Not bought Killing Joke. It didn't get the best reviews from my Hub Expert Guides (see a couple of pages back).

It's a deeply unpleasant and nasty read and Moore has never really been brought to book on that due to the very pretty art. Whether it shocks now as much as it did back in the day is debatable as it fits tonally more with what DC is now than what it was back in the day.
Year One is solid if you can get past the dull colouring. Good story.

Yeah, I'll pass on Killing Joke me thinks. I don't like nasty for the sake of it. I want to be entertained!
I snatched 'The Man Who Laughs' on the cheap from ebayus. Not read it yet, but got good reviews.
Hush next.

Has anyone recommended Batman and the Outsiders yet? I started reading that last year, it's quite different to the other titles here. It's a pre-Crisis series where Batman splits from the JLA and end up forming his own, somewhat oddball, team. It's not much like what people think of as a Batman story these days, but for what it does it is really very good, and has art by one of the true great Batman artists, Jim Aparo.

Read DKR (look at me with the lingo) Book Four again. It's... It's STUNNING. The entire graphic novel... not one panel is wasted, not one line, it all adds up to make one feel... I dunno, anxious. Edge of the seat, baby. I'm really glad new Robin survived. Their relationship was very touching.
And I LOVED Superman in this. The moment where he's dying after the nuclear blast, striving to reach the Sun. His... discussion, with Mother Earth... beautiful.
And the fight between them... Oh mama....

Oh good golly, HUSH is superb!
All the villains, a mysterious over-arching new villain, intriguing plot, Superman, a fight with Superman (yeay!), some really fun twists, and lovely art. Hush is a great 'all-rounder'. Some heavier Batman Lore in there, but not too much to drown a newbie like me.
The Joker is such a freakin' menace! Look at all the terrible things he's done! I knew about the Robin thing, but not the Barbara Gordon thing. Is that in Killing Joke.
Only a couple of episodes left...

Yikes. Not really researched it. But thanks for the warning. Andu? Care to counter The Doctor's view? Yes I do, Ralph is a curmudgeon of the highest order. There is unfortunately a jarring disconnect between Parts 2 and 3 as 9/11 happened and a lot of rewriting had to happen. Is it on a par with DKR - no, I still enjoy it and it's worth a read.

DK2 is the worst comic I have ever read. It looks like a 2-year drew it and coloured it in. How that was seen as fit for publishing by a professional company still boggles my mind. I've had shits that look better.

I've had shits that look better. .................... oh my god that made me laugh.... oh wow.... I needed that. And 'T-SHIRT' by the way, Pinwig. Well. What's a Shockprowl to do? Two people whose opinions of Graphic Novels I value greatly, if not the greatliest, disagreeing in such a... fundamental way. What's a Shockprowl to do...? Doc', I think I need to read it. I love DKR so much I... I'll always wonder. And it can't be that bad if Andu likes it...? But if you could send me a picture of your shit for comparison I'd be very grateful.

I've had shits that look better. -Ralph No it doesn't. Miller's approach is stripped down and is cartoony and very OTT as the book is meant to be ridiculous, I maintain we got cheated out of the proper ending so we will never know exactly how it should have ended.
