Yes! And they must be playable too. Laserbeak could have some secret Autobot plans on it.

As I have been out of the loop for a smidge, just wondering what YOU IN THE KNOW know about the future of MPs. Any wiffs of rumours whafting about out there? And I'm not talking about Tomo's bottom.
Thanks ever-so!

The last one I heard mention of was Soundwave which, but I don't know if that was ever morethan wishful thinking.

Takara-Tomy and Hasbro have both had really nothing new to show us TF wise for a very very long time now.

I received an email from my Hong Kong based exporter (toyspark/frankie) selling black repaint of MP-01.
Black, grey with red windows and teal highlights. Should have omitted the teal and made it a Nucleon Quest release imo.

I'm certain I read very recently that the next MP will be someone of importance in the Animated Movie. Galvatron OR Hot Rod would be fine with me!

I would be up for Galvatron actually. Megatron is epic fail and utterly impossible to do justice to.
Therefore just give us Galvatron so we can have a Decepticon leader who looks proper.
Pete who has decided to collect only Masterpiece TFs, and of those only Grimlock and Optimus Prime because all of the others are NOT anime accurate, though he might well get Ghost Starscream...

MP Star Saber would be pretty cool, given that the original is pretty unarticulated and totally out of proportion.

A new Megatron would be most welcome. I love his incarnation in 'Infiltration'. An MP version of that would be ace.
MP Soundwave is vital to my welbeing. And how FAB would MP Shockwave be?!

I wouldn't want another MP gun Megatron... the last one was a, rubbish and b, too big.
A tank mode/G2 MP Megatron would be nice. And they could retool it into a Bludgeon as well to make more use out of the mould.

I've been looking at pictures of Masterpiece Rodimus Prime, and the transformation from Hot Rod to Rodimus Prime looks to be a neat feature.
But I want more!
Here is my challenge for the Masterpiece designers. I would like:
A Masterpiece Megatron that transforms into a Masterpiece Galvatron! Also, if possible, I would like some reversible battle-damage for Megatron.
Could it be done? How would it be done?

Reversable battle damage would be easy enough with flaps and so on, but given how tricky MP Megatron was in turning a handgun into Megatron, I doubt you could get a Galvatron out of it too. Now, if you just wanted Megs to Galv to Cannon, that would be doable, though it would need to be toy/comic colours.
You could have a crown for his helmet hidden inside it (keeping the same face), you could have his orange cannon hidden inside his fusion cannon, which then swings to his back. The problem is the rest is so different, you'd pretty much have to swap over everything. I think Hot Rod to Rodimus works so well because he is similar-but-different

So. Where do we think the Masterpiece Line is going? Soundwave, Laserbeak, Sideswipe the new Optimus, all seem to be pretty darn good toys, not perfect maybe, but, even though I currently own only two of them, I certainly consider them 'masterpiece'.
With Prowl and his mold buddies comming out later this year (YYYEEEEAAAAAYYYY!!!!!!!), what do you think will be next for the line? More Autobot cars perhaps? Surely there must be a new Megatron some where down the line. Which characters are they likely to do? Which are best for them to do in terms of getting the most out of a mold? They could maybe retool a Jazz from the Prowl mold, maybe (although it would be difficult to call it a 'Masterpiece' unless it's spot on). Ratchet/Ironhide, two characters from one mold. But what about the other Autobot cars? Mirage, Wheeljack, Hound, none of those characters could be released as another major character (or could they?).
How long ago do you think they planned the reduction in size? (For the record, I like the new size). The MP-3 Strike Planes mold, and it's update, have been around a while, and still look pretty decent (were-as the original Optimus, and Megatron in particular, look dated). Were they planning the reduction in size as far back as MP-3?
And what of a new Megatron. Will he be a gun again? With all the problems that entails, not only of transformation, but also of restrictions on imitation guns. Or could they fashion a G1ick robot mode out of a tank, perhaps.

Hmm, if they really are trying to crush the 3Ps Ironhide and ratchet certainly seem sensible.
So do Thrust, Dirge and Ramjet too.
Megatron you would think is likely but does have limited repaint potential and can not be released in the US and I assume Europe which I would think seriously harms the chance of making a profit. I'd hate to see a G1 tank toy, personally it's not what Masterpieces are about.
G2 Megatron certainly could be possible or they could go for Galvatron instead.
Shockwave - along with all the Megatron options there isn't a great repaint range for it, but I do wonder if Galvatron and Shockwave could be built from the same skeleton. Externally they would probably not share a single piece but would have the same joints and transformation. It may require more work than its worth, but they have such simple transformations, retracting the legs is the most complex part in both cases that it might be worth it.
Blaster - mostly because the tapes are cheap and have loads of potential for repaints because collectors want them all, Blaster seems like a good shot. I've heard other disagree but I don't think it would be so hard or bad to use the Soundwave mould, again with heavy modification to make Blaster, but with Twincaster a new Blaster does have a repaint any way.
Jazz - could be a remould of Prowl but the legs would have to be reworked complete as well as the head and the re-shell for car mode.
It's the Decepticons that seem lacking in options. After the Strike Jets there's Cyclonus and Scourge and then I start to wonder where they go.
Size wise it seems like the shrinkage was decided after Prime and Megatron, possibly because it was only the two of them originally planned and maintaining a full line at that size would have been mental, imagine SS jet mode.
But I dont think it was until the new Masterpiece prime, Soundwave and Sideswipe that they properly selected a standard scale.

We'll never see Megatron as a gun again. That was a disaster for Takara, and they did it against Hasbro's wishes. In Austrailia you had to have a special issued lisence just to be able to purchas and import it. In many countries they would not allow it to come across customs unless it had been shipped out of the package. Many others (Like the US) had to be altered. All of this with Megatron being comically oversized.
We'll never see another gun megatron. At least, not in masterpiece scale.

I fear you may be correct, Crazy. I do agree with you Andy in that not having him as a gun defeats the whole point of Masterpiece. Yet personaly, (as an adult at least, as a kid I thought he was awesome!) Megatron being a hand-gun somehow doesn't sit well with me. On the one hand a gun Megatron is immensely nostalgic, but on the other I don't like the limitations it puts on such an important and powerful character.
So keeping in mind what the MP line is all about, what are the alternatives for G1 Megatron? Would it be exceptable for him to transform into a tank IF the robot mode was iconic G1 (although how they'd do that I don't know!). I'd love that, but at the same time I don't feel it would be in keeping with 'Masterpiece'!
And, would similar legal limitations exist for a Shockwave gun? His gun mode is clearly not an imitation gun.

I have to admit that I don't see the point of the MP line. Updates to older toys have been coming out at retail at a steady clip since the first wave of new Classics and these just look like unimaginably expensive deluxes. I honestly don't get it. I could see the point when the first few came out, but not now.
