Hang on. Is Uncanny back on the old numbering again? So confusing. Why are publishers still pulling this shit in the digital age?

I'd rather they just stuck to the original numbering but comics companies like #1s to get new readers jumping on.

I have a good number of James' run in trade: 1-280 are in Marvel US Essentials. Most of 300+ I have in Panini Essentials or originals. I've got the Coming of Bishop and X-Cutioner's song trades which take out some of the pre 300 gap. I'm not convinced Coming of Bishop presents the whole issue.... So If I've done my sums right I need 281 286 289 290 291 292 293 297 298 299 305 306 All of which I now have in digital format.

Picked up the latest chunk of UXM in the sale.
Sadly some of it ties into issues of Adjectiveless X-Men that haven't been uploaded on comixology yet.

That is the American pronounciation, so I guess if it is "wrong" depends on where you are standing at the time - like the difference between "Ex-A-Vier" and "Xavier".
I live in the wrong part of the country really to let this worry me - considering that the people who can pronounce my name correctly are few and far between (I tend to get called "carol" most of the time - although one or two folk, when I explain that it is "karl" promptly insist on calling me "callum"). It doesn't annoy me as much as it annoys a friend of mine, who is always getting called "Mari" instead of the proper pronounciation of her name. It used to wind me up something chronic when I first moved here - but since then I have lived in New Zealand and observed the differences between the way New Zealanders say words and Australian's say them (two nations, divided by a common language...) and I have concluded (to paraphrase friend Comrade Cosmo) "is just nature of human species, dah?"

No. It still annoys me when it's said that way. It was a real surprise when the first X-Men movie came out to hear it said that way.

X-Men:Exogenous arrived this week and was read last night.
This series is really working for me, there's a definite chemistry/team feel between the female X-Men. This was a space volume, which has been a source of dimishing returns for the X-Men in recent years, but this was rather good with some very nice art in places.

What do you think about that?

It is very like Heroes Reborn. If they're being entombed with the FF then this is another part of the Marvel/Fox spat which is really annoying me. The films should not be driving the comics.
Wait and see what happens though. Lots of rumour at the moment.

I think creatively though it's a smart move, if mutation is the only way that characters get their abilities it makes the climate of fear and suspicion a bit more believable than in the larger MU, where it's okay to get your powers from a cosmic ray but god help you if you are born with them,

It's the way they've been cooking up Inhumans as a replacement X-Men in recent years. Revealing that Quicksilver & Scarlet witch are Inhumans, not Mutants was just madness.

There is a bit too much handwaving needed for that. {Spoiler}How many times have they encountered Sentinels and they have responded to the two of them as Mutants. I get that they might want to undo the whole Magneto is our father detail but this is a bit daft.

As terrible as it sounds I think I prefer it to a Heroes Reborn approach.
I do wonder how long it can be maintained. For that matter how long to set it up? Each title needs its own brand new reason for being. New support cast and location too.

Dumping the X-Men on another planet is an excellent way to completely kill off the entire line.
I think the 'Heroes Reborn' approach would be better. Just whack them off into their own continuity. They can keep having their usual adventures on Earth but without all the crossovers. Just like the movies. Job done.

From the collected editions thread: Warlock is also tops. And Lockheed, whenever he makes an appearance. Especially as a hat. Martin Lockheed is pretty much my favourite dragon. Pretty much any Lockheed appearance is a good one. Karl
