You're a prince among men for services rendered, Phil. Not only do I have no memory of the Sunturion story, but the same goes for 'Deep Trouble'. Maybe I'll have to get that new Epic Collection after all. Technically the most recent trade for Rocket Raccoon is not the one you listed but this one: www.amazon.co.uk/Rocket-Raccoon-Guardian-Keystone-Quadrant/dp/1846531934/G.I. Joe Special Missions Classic v3 is stupidly unavailable. Martin

You're a prince among men for services rendered, Phil. Thank you sir! I've always wanted to work out what everything was from. I know we did the GI Joe stories a few years back... ...which can be found at tmukhub.proboards.com/post/161423/threadNot only do I have no memory of the Sunturion story, but the same goes for 'Deep Trouble'. Maybe I'll have to get that new Epic Collection after all. Underwater Armour Iron Man is all I remember! Only technically cos it's not full size! G.I. Joe Special Missions Classic v3 is stupidly unavailable. Martin I've got my GI Joe digitally: Comixology have it www.comixology.co.uk/G-I-Joe-Special-Missions-Classics-Vol-3/digital-comic/38951

Still, my mind boggles why IDW apparently printed only about 2 copies of the book so you have to shell out nearly £100 quid to get it while volumes 1, 2 and 4 are readily available. Martin

IDW's trade program at times is a great mystery,
Certain things get kept in print and others just disappear into the ether.

IDW's trade program at times is a great mystery, Certain things get kept in print and others just disappear into the ether. Andy Speaking as someone is isn't a Joe fan (in that, I enjoy reading the Marvel comic-albeit often not for the reasons Hama intended- but have no real clue about any of the behind the scenes reasoning on either the original comic or reprints), I do find it odd the first Transformers GI Joe trade reprints the American crossover (which makes sense), but also the lead in issues to G2. Which had only just been reprinted in their proper place in the Classic G.I. Joe series. Who in their right mind is going to pay for a trade that only has 50% new material that isn't available in a book you've likely already bought? Especially as Serious Joe fans don't like either the crossover or the sullying of their series with alien robots. Even Transformers fans who might pick it up don't like the original crossover any more than the Joe fans do would be better off picking the G2 issues up in the sequential trade as at least they get the issues around it that explain the plot points Hama had clearly already laid out for those issues and wouldn't let go off regardless of what Hasbro wanted and how much of a good idea it was for a major crossover to not make sense to new readers.

I do find it odd the first Transformers GI Joe trade reprints the American crossover (which makes sense), but also the lead in issues to G2. It makes a certain amount of sense to me, given that the TF GI Joe trades were supposed to reprint all the crossovers in order. TF fans may want the crossovers without having to buy the Classic GI Joe trade series. I was happy to buy it as a completist TF fan since the original crossover hadn't previously appeared in a trade except the 1993 one which introduced wrong colouring on several pages, and none of the material contained in the book had been included in the Titan TF US trades, which had gaping plot gaps in terms of the origins of Goldbug and G2 Megatron, so it complements that series well. What does seem odd to me is that having reprinted the TF G2 / GI Joe crossover twice in the last few years, it looks like IDW is stopping the Transformers Classics series at Volume 7 without going on to reprint TF G2 #1-12. (Instead, Volume 7 appears to be guiding folk towards Regeneration One as "the" continuation.) Martin

Specking to Lee Sulivan last saturday & Lee had been told that IDW don't make any money on the trades so that is why they don't pay reprint fees. But could this also be an issue re the above under printing trades? They must have a big print run of around 1000 at sale price of $20 (Note following is just a guess - you'd expect IDW would get $3 per trade paper back at the end of it if you allow $5 for printing $10 going to the shop & Diamond & $2 if they pay someone for doing the tpb)

The most recent "Marvel's Mightiest Heroes" partwork volume is on Machine Man, notably the future-based mini-series (and also his present-day encounter with Ultron and Jocasta). Goes very well on the bookshelf alongside the Rocket Raccoon volume.

It was a curious choice to drop in a second time, it was a welcome pleasure to reread again, but I often wonder if there were better choices, and just why exactly GI Joe was eventually ousted, only to be planned to bring back for 333 (DAMN YOU PAUL NEARY!!!).

I may have to have that for the Marvel Two In One issues, which were themselves printed in the UK in The Thing is Big Ben.

Andy Especially when GIJoe was mid story! OK it jumps off at 74 so.... where would 4 more GI Joe issues take us to? www.mikesamazingworld.com/features/series.php?seriesid=4519&page=gallery75-78 would have allowed GI Joe to jump off at a much more sensible place storywise!

Yeah, even as a wee 'un the Joe stuff bored the crap outta me.
Rocket Raccoon was my favorite backup, then... Hercules, I think. Hell, I think I'd say I preferred Planet Terry to Joe!
