No, this is conclusive proof that Galvatron is actually an ultra-deep-deep-cover Heroic Autobot double agent, and this is the one time he let his mask slip.

This was around the time Galvatron started remembering his past - but that only applied to events at the end of the year when Fizzle & co where no longer around. It's a shame we only get 2 more story arcs with them (UK & US one).

30 Years Ago This Week: Issue #154 Toy Soldiers - Part 1: The Predacons and Constructicons run rampant across America, stealing resources, but III and RAAT blame the Autobots. Seeing no distinction between the sides, Triple I decide to terminate the captured Throttlebots as a show of power, but thankfully Walter Barnett sees sense and removes their brain modules, hiding them in toy cars. As the empty shells of the Throttlebots are crushed, Barnett leaves with their brains intact. Meanwhile, Buster hears about the destruction and is distracted enough to ignore his father's news that his brother, Spike, is returning from college. Elsewhere, Transformation warns fans of a certain peace keeping agent to look out for issue 135 of Doctor Who Magazine, on sale March 10th; Action Force continue to confuse and entertain in equal measures; and an advert appears for Real Ghostbusters potato snacks, available from Rowntree Foods now in a choice of salt and vinegar or cheese and bacon flavours.

The Real Ghostbusters snacks were fab. Even now, 30 (!) years later I remember them fondly.

1988 seems to have arrived very quickly. Without re-reading I would not have put Death's Head's jump off into his own universe coming so soon. I remember him turning up in Sylvester McCoy's Who strip, but I'd have said that was an '89 thing. Course it wasn't, Dragons' Claws and Death's Head were '88, but it just doesn't seem like they were.

This issue always seemed a bit odd to me. Why would you crush and destroy six examples of advanced alien technology?

30 Years Ago This Week: Issue #155 Toy Soldiers - Part 2: The Predacons come looking for the bodies of the Throttlebots and III finally realise there are two warring factions among the Transformers. Barnett takes the Autobots in their toy car forms to Buster and Sparkplug, Goldbug knowing their old friends can safely approach the Ark. Ratbat and the Predacons pursue them and destroy a shopping mall as Buster looks for new batteries for the toy cars. Eventually arriving at the Ark, the escapees find it empty and try to use a transceiver to send a message to Cybertron to help - the message that was actually picked up by Hot Rod on Nebulos. Ratbat then attacks again. Elsewhere, Transformation is eager for feedback on the new Action Force back up strip and also reveals that curse of the spaceways, Captain Rik, wants great space related jokes for a new Ricicles competition; Hook and Hotspot feature in the A-Z; and on the letters' page, reader Paul Reeve admonishes Grimlock for saying Sky Lynx isn't available to buy in this country because he bought one himself. Grimlock's reply is that he has heard from a few readers that both Sky Lynx and Trypticon have been bought in the UK, and asks for the empty toy boxes to be sent to him so he can investigate how this has come about.

That's the first issue they didn't get in. I had it saved at the newsagent but they didn't get in & no other shops had it in either. Same happened again for #191,195. But this meant it was a few years before I found out what happened to Goldbug & how he got to where he is in #156.

The bit about Sky Lynx and Trypticon is interesting. In Transformation, Stuart suggests the request for boxes was to prove to Hasbro the toys actually were out, but I read it more as Hasbro asking Furman to put some feelers out to see if they could get the boxes to identify where the toys were coming from. Did we have grey imports back in 1988? Those two would have been around a few years by 88, so it isn't inconceivable that someone was getting clearanced stock from overseas somewhere.

There was definitely US stock in the country - our Ironhide had a US 85 Leaflet.
88 is a little early for them to be Chinese - Devastator was 1990.

I might go have a look at Birmingham comic mart thats on next saturday if the weather is better. The last time I looked round in 2016 a dealer had lots of UK comics in at 50p each. So could pick up #107,108 to have the full UK redo of the issues, we these not being included in the UK collection. I know we are on #155 now.

Two days early, but I'm not going to be at my PC on Tuesday so I won't be able to post this then. 30 Years Ago This Week: Issue #156 Trial By Fire! - Part 1: As the Headmasters travel toward Earth, Fortress Maximus is rebuilt to increase his size and transformation capabilities while the Nebulans discuss recent events. On Earth, Spike Witwicky returns home to find his family business trashed, but his father still alive in the wreckage. He sets off to find Buster at Mount St Hilary but instead encounters the newly arrived Headmasters. Elsewhere, Transformation informs readers that upcoming issues will feature promo pieces on forthcoming Marvel titles Real Ghostbusters, Visionaries and Action Force Monthly; in Action Force some people punch other people; and on the letters' page, Grimlock admits it might be a while before the tussle between him and Blaster is resolved in the pages of the comic.
