Oh man, that's a kick in the chops. Since the conversation on here about him, Laser Prime has been on my lookout list, but transparent plastic and *those* colours? No way! Is he trying to be AoE Grimlock or something?
What a random mould to revisit.

Always a joy to see what mad Year of the... toys will be coming out, even if they never quite appeal to me. Laser Prime here is the closest yet, but still a no. Nice to see the mould get another run out.

Those are truly bonkers - but I think they are great ideas for New Year commemerative releases. They are strikingly different and unforgettable. The Laser Rod Prime I really like, partly because I adore that design and always love seeing another release of the best Optimus/Convoy toy ever and partly because it is so strikingly bonkers. The Soundwave is definitely the more mental of the two, but appeals to me less as I have never felt that the Masterpiece Soundwave was enough of an upgrade on the original to warrant the price tag.

Not too keen on Soundwave, but those Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage, Lazerbeak and Buzzsaw are really good!

I feel blasphemous saying this but having a play with a laser rod Prime recently I found it was less than I remembered. Transformation and articulation were fine, even if the latter is a bit awkward in places. Theres something about the proportions that is ever so slightly off though. I think the torso is too long.
Its minor and for a 20 year old toy it still compares remarkably well to most modern toys but I've always been so impressed by it I was quite surprised to be even a bit disappointed in it.
Having said that Goat looks great and if it doesn't cost a fortune will Join Snake and Horse.

Where can Goat Prime be purchased? And another G2 item casually referred to as 20 years old!!

Goatimus Prime does look rather nice. I like that he comes with the chromed Black Convoy trailer, which is my preferred version of that. So shiny.

I was going to say that's a really esoteric choice, but then if you're looking for a big monkey figure to sell for hundreds of dollars in the platinum range to go with the year, then the choices are quite limited and Optimal Optimus is the least monkey looking of all of them. I've never seen this one before. Seiberton's gallery makes it look quite good, but done out in Prime's red and blue... nah. Looks rubbish. This is the one that should have had the bronze/clear colours the Platinum Prime and Soundwave had.

That's so cool. Of course the thread there is full of moaning. Maybe people are confusing him for Blast Punch Primal, Air Attack was huge! I am also half-shocked this isn't just a movie Prime with a monkey deco slapped onto the trailer. Though to be fair a cool alternate would have been a Prime decoed as Optimus Primal.
