Is Pro Evo any good. Usually I avoid football games like the plague but the TV advert made it look like it was some sort of football/RTS hybrid. I read a few reviews after that and I'm really intrigued by the mechanics.

I've played it for a few hours today and it's a lot of fun and easy to pick up (but I have been playing Pro Evo for years).
Defending is a bit of a nightmare if you're used to normal Pro Evo controls, but the way you can work attacking moves by dragging your players into spaces works really well.
The only things I don't really like is that you have no control over the power of your shots or the ability to control a defender with the analogue stick. There are also less strategy settings than normal pro evo, but I guess the idea is that you control that during the game (instead of setting your wing back to push forward during the game, you have to do it yourself).
It all means that you're constantly looking at your formation and analysing your oppponent making defence all about strategy.
I'd rent it first though, you may not get on with it.

Arghhhhhh... Lag in football games is t3h suxX0R!
Here's how the game went down;
He's dribbling, I get in to position to tackle. I tackle and start moving up pitch. Ball and Ronaldinho suddenly teleport into either in front of my goal or the ball teleports actually into the goal.
AMAZING!
(I've upped my settings to only accept stronger connections now hahahaha)

I finished Zack and Wiki last night and unfortunately the last few levels let the game down. Not because they were bad but because they were long and the game's revival mechanic interfered with this. On most levels you can die, sometimes its obviously that an action will get you killed, sometimes its not. There's always something you have to do to avoid dying, and often the act of dying will give you a clue on how to avoid it.
When you die you get the option of reviving, which will cost you a 'Platinum Ticket' (you start with 5 and get more by buying them), and will put you right back to just before you bit the dust. Doing this will loose you all the money you've collected in that level so far and cost you some points from your final rating. Otherwise you can start from the beginning of the level.
Now this was all great at the beginning. Money came in thick and fast so using the odd ticket wasn't a problem. Later in the game however the tickets become more and more expensive, and as the levels get more complicated and you have to revive more and more (which costs you the money you've earned), this all starts becoming a problem. I found myself between the options of farming some of the easier levels for cash to buy enough tickets or restarting every time I died to save the ones I had. Both those options lead you to doing stuff you've already done before and, as this is essentially a puzzle game, solving puzzles you've already solved isn't much fun. Hence lots of frustration and forced me in the end to consult an FAQ on how to solve the last couple of levels to avoid throwing the Wii remote through my TV.
Really you should have been able to revive as many times as you liked with the only penalty being you lost points. From how the game plays I suspect this was actually how it worked originally, but perhaps the game designers felt it made the game too easy or allowed players to brute force their way through puzzles (trying out every possibility systematically rather than thinking logically about the solution). It's a shame really as this lets down an otherwise standout title for the Wii.

I managed a wee sneak of Mario Kart Wii last night, and to be honest i was rather underwhelmed by the experience.

Bwa. I doubt I'll play with the steering wheel though, I'll probably go back to analogue stick at some point.

I finally have MK. I was away for the weekend and I tried to pick it up London in the 1 I had before my train back to Newcastle arrived. I went in every game store I know around Oxford Street and they were all sold out. Got the last copy this morning from one of the local game stores.

So yeah.
I've spent some time now on 50cc and multiplayer.
Not much to report. Meets my expectations, which isn't a bad thing!

Loving it so far. Played some 50cc which was a bit slow and boring so I popped online and had a blast. Love how you can drop in and out of matches. And I can't believe you can send invites to your Wii friends. I was totally gob-smacked when I saw yours Stom. It's almost like a proper online game! From Nintendo!

Indeed! Using Wii Connect 24 you can see how your time trials compare to all your friends, and against the whole world. Pretty sweet!

I went in every game store I know around Oxford Street and they were all sold out. I was wandering London after work on friday trying to find the game. Found it in Hamleys of all places! Haven't gone online with it yet, will do at some point. I'm liking it, the bikes are fun. Can't use the wheel though, I go all over the place.

Good game Stomski! I thought we did pretty well against the randoms, although I fell apart at the end. Rainbow Road fucked me right up. It was great how you could just drop into my game.

I got so f***ing pissed off last night with all the MK scrubs choosing Luigi's Circuit and Moo Moo Meadows which is why I started selecting Rainbow Road every game. And then it hit my selection twice. Too good. Those easy circuits are such lotteries it's embarrasing to play them. Hopefully as my rank improves I'll only get matched against people who don't play such levels. Hope it wasn't too much of a surprise when I showed up Was it my Mii driving my Kart?? Oh... and I haven't seen anyone abusing anything like snaking yet. Has this been balanced out?

Yeah snaking is gone apparently. I don't know if you noticed but you only get the sparks when you turn in the corner when sliding. If you counter-steer (which is what you did to keep going in a straight as line as possible when snaking) the sparks don't appear or take longer to. Good riddance I say.
Yeah I could see your Mii! I haven't unlocked the Mii yet, other I'd use mine too. The weight of your Mii in the Mii Channel determines your weight category in the game too. Great stuff.
I'm with you on the easy circuits. I jumped for joy when Baby Park wasn't in this game. I know Mario Kart is random at times but part of the skill is tactical use of the items to minimise the impact of items on you and maximise the effect of your own. But with Luigi's Circuit you might as well roll dice for the placings.
EDIT: we should have a separate thread for this. I'll start one now.

How much did you pay for yours? Just under £30, via Yahoo Auctions and Shopping Mall Japan [thanks Nick!]. Bit expensive, but I'm a sucker for exclusive stuff like this and I know if I didn't get it now then they'd end up being impossible to get later. Of course, now I have one, they'll probably be out over here for £15 later in the year. Also tempted by the Wii white Gamecube controller...

I'm now playing through Zack and Wiki. Got to the big monkey level and got stuck. Not impressed when I finally gave in and used the hint system. I knew I had to use that item there, but manipulating it with the Wii remote in that way was just BAT SHIT mental (although oddly I'd done the same manipulation with an item on a previous level, weird).
I think that's ambiguous enough...

I continued playing my Super Paper Mario file again for the first time in months and completed one more level on it before I got bored again and switched to Mario Kart.
