OK Wii Fit has told me that I'm almost technically obese. I feel slighly ashamed about that!
I'm really enjoying it so far. Some the exercises got me really out of breath, others were pretty easy.

Perfect timing for wii ware for me with school half term. Got My Life as King which I'm enjoying and R thingy, the shoot 'em up. I'm ranked 12,000 in the world, despite only playing it once, badly. Not many people must have bought it. I'm all for wii ware because there are no stock shortages!

I've clocked up a stupid number of hours on 'my life..' in the last couple of days - it's pretty addictive.
Bit annoying though, all my adventurers are between level 20 and 25 and suddenly, with no other dungeons to send them to they keep getting battered by a guy who's level 40! Am I missing something? Am I supposed to keep sending them on pointless level-up missions? Or, and I'll not be happy with this, is the extra dungeon pack required to get my adventurers to the right level?

Well Zack and Wiki didn't get AT ALL frustrating on the last level. Stupid anchor. I mean WTF? First of all getting it to spin is horrendously inconsistent and then to throw? It's not enough to just point at the screen, you have to point and hold it there for like 2 seconds?? Jesus. Worst throwing mechanic ever. Now playing Super Paper Mario. God I love this game. I have Paper Mario on VC waiting to get played. I'm enjoying SPM so much I may move straight on to some N64 goodness when I'm done.

I completed the original Paper Mario game on the VC quite a few months ago and I must say its an excellant game. It's not as good as the Gamecube sequel but still a must play game.

I never got into Super Paper Mario - I think I was at the 4th or 5th world and just gave up. I think it was too much of a departure from the standard PM format. Absolutely loved the Thousand Year Door. I have the N64 on VC too and have yet to play it. I intend to rectify that shortly.

I've never completed Super Paper Mario either. I think I completed the first three levels then just got bored of it. Maybe I'll pick it again when I've completed Super Mario Galaxy.

Is anyone going to get Super Smash Bros. Brawl? I thouroughly enjoyed the Gamecube one and will certainly get the Wii version at some point in the near future.

Yeah, got it on Friday, but only had about 4 hours playing the 1 Player mode so far. Enjoying it, but the real test will be the multiplayer whenever I get a chance to do that.

I'll pick up Smash at some point but I'm really not fussed about it at the minute.
The adbot add I'm getting at the moment is:
Free Extra Gaydar: Detect Gays near you.
What is adbot trying to say about our Wii playing?

Maybe its some kind of attachment for the Wii that allows you to check if there are any blokes nearby who are trying to grab your attention but you'd rather avoid (at least for the moment anyway until you've finished playing with your Wii).

OK. Super Paper Mario was cruising along nicely in Chapter 6 when it's obscure self awareness that it's a game kicked into full on WTF mode.
Then Chapter 7 you're faced with a few of the most tedious levels ever. Backtracking too much for no apparant reason and boring levels with no challenge. Bleh. FU chapter 7-3 and 7-4!!

I've played a couple of hours on Brawl and I'm not that impressed so far. I'd not played a SB game before, so I'm finding it hard to know what all the fuss is about - at the moment it seems no more fun than something like Streets of Rage!

Firstly- Streets of Rage = awesome.
Secondly- SB is a game best played with friends. It's not about the 1 player game.
As such, I'm avoiding SB:Brawl. SB:Melee was great as I had 3 housemates and 4 pads. I now live on my own so there's no appeal for me.

I enjoyed SSB: Melee on the one player mode. After I had completed it on very easy I decided to try the easy mode and initially stumbled but got that completed as well eventually. Then came normal mode. The computer characters were knocking seven shades of shit out of me and gave up on the game shortly after that.
I just wanted to know if anybody knew exactly how many trophies there were in Melee. I've got this stategy guide for the game (a strategy guide for a fighting game - I ask you!) and it lists 290 trophies in the game including the Captain Olimar one that you needed Pikmin save data to unlock. Every magazine I've picked up also lists the same trophies but when I put a cheat disk into the Gamecube once and selected the 'Unlock all Trophies' cheat it came up with 292 trophies. The two other ones were a trophy of Samus' helmet and one of Mario riding on the back of Yoshi. No magazine or strategy guide has ever listed these two trophies so I was wondering if these were removed from the game before the game was released but the internal game code for the trophies still remained or whether they were intended to be unlocked with other game save data that was never implemented.

Zudobug, those extra trophies have something to do with the Japanese version of the game. There's probably more details on a computer game website like gamefaqs.

Thanks for that. I knew the two trophies I mentioned had been removed from the PAL version of the game for some reason (I'm guessing they were intended for Super Mario Sunshine and Metroid Prime game save data but never implemented). The biography for the trophies though are in English so surely they weren't Japanese exclusive trophies.

Phew. I have finally got around to completing all missions in Sonic and The Secret Rings.
This game leaves me feeling conflicted.
On the one hand the control scheme sucks ass, often missing jump presses, no easy way to sidestep when you've braked to a halt and worst of all because it uses a tilt mechanism you often find yourself either far left, far right or about in the middle (which makes it incredibly frustrating when trying to pick up a line of rings).
The levels are very stop start unless you have it totally memorised and some of the level design leaves you wondering wether or not they actually playtested the thing. An example is at the start of one of the challenges you come across a spring. Fine fine... but the spring is on a rotating block which has spikes on the bottom. The timing is such that when you get to the spring the spikes are up. This means you start the level, run for 2 seconds and then have to brake to wait for the spring to rotate. Not very fluid, which to me defeats the point of the game.
There are moments when you think, wow, that was fun... but these only occur once or twice a level. The rest of the time, unless you get it spot on, you end up swearing at the TV. But the times when you put in the effort to memorise a level and dodge all the obstacles and travel through at super high speed are so rewarding, I'm just not sure they were worth the frustration to find them.
Now on to No More Heroes...

Well you are blasting through your backlog Stom. I wish I could say the same. I officially gave up on SatSR as, well, it is shit. I pretty much agree with your complaints on it and couldn't be bothered to suffer through the rest to complete it. The two or three bits in a level where you have fun where usually scripted sections in my experience, where you just watched Sonic do something cool. The game was hailed as the best 3D Sonic by many but I much preferred Sonic Adventure 2. But I mainly just did Chao breeding in that and used the main game just to collect more stuff to feed them with.
After discovering Sonic Rush was also terrible (whose entire game mechanic is a) hold right b) try not to notice you are just constantly holding right and doing nothing else), I'm swearing off Sonic games.

I don't like secret rings either. I didn't really get that far before it annoyed me - can't help but wonder how much Sega payed for the good reviews it got. I too enjoyed Adventure far more, but for the main game not the Chao things.
It's starting to dawn on me that I actually don't like most of my wii games, wii sport is still my favourite!
John (I'm telling you this because you praised it so much), excite truck is my least favourite (I got it for £10 a few weeks ago), it smells worse than my feet.

There is a saying that a fan of platform games is either a Mario fan or Sonic fan - they cannot be both. As I've been a fan of Nintendo for some years now I'm a die-hard Mario fan and as such don't bother with Sonic games. I've got no problem with Sonic appearing on Nintendo consoles since the demise of Sega as a console maker but I don't think that he is no longer a challenger for Mario. What actually gets me though is that he is now appearing with Mario in Wii games. First M&S at the Olympic Games and now Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I think Sega have now given up on Sonic being Mario's rival and so are just trying to keep the franchise going with a few not-too-great games and a couple of team-ups with his former rival.

Hell... I ain't about to recommend anyone SatSR that's for sure. And I'm able to go through my back catalogue as I have taken a lot of time off work. Yay.
I do have Metroid Prime 1, 2 and 3 to play, but I've put them on the bottom of the pile after Pikmin2, Lego Star Wars 2 and Zelda Ocarina of Time.
Yes, I still haven't played Zelda OoT. Sue me.

I'm really into Okami at the moment.
I am just wondering what to get between Guitar Hero or Wii Fit. I am leaning towards Guitar Hero more because Wii Fit is nowhere to be seen in stores at the moment.

Didn't you say you didn't like Mario Galaxy too? I mean come on! So what's the issue with Excite Truck? I thought it was a breathe of fresh air compared to most in the stagnant racer genre. Great controls, great sense of speed, satisfying crash mechanics. Could have done with a few more tracks maybe but the core gameplay was solid. Or so I thought! Also there's nothing wrong with liking Wii Sports the best. It really doesn't get enough credit from the hardcore gamer press (or fans for that matter). It's one of the few truly revolutionary Wii titles.

Yes, I still haven't played Zelda OoT. Sue me. What? One of the best Zelda games ever made if not THE best and you haven't played it? I liked it so much I've completed all 100% of the game about five of six times over.
