Trailer is now up
Looks like a bit of a greatest hits of the Terminator series.
Can't be worse than the last film though.

Release date?
It does look a bit of "That's back" "so is that" alongside the "I'll be back."

It gives me horrible vibes of 2009 Star Trek ie 'it's not a full reboot or a continuation it's a half assed halfway house'. Doesn't help that it has Boring Man from the last Apes film in it.
Still it's got 'Terminator' in the title so I will be unable to stop myself from seeing it.
I know I will twitch every time I see that spelling of Genesis though.

It is the sort of stupid name that someone would give a tech start-up. Makes me wonder if, in this timeline, younger Sarah and Daddy robot took down Cyberdyne and the remains of the company are acquirred in the now by Genisys.
Not that I can summon up the energy to care much. It looks like a frankenstinian hybrid of better Terminator projects. Bits of the iconography of the first film, but with the popcorn spectacular stylings of the second, stitched to a small scraping of the "what if the future is at least partly malleable?" of the TV series. I'm not really convinced about their ability to actually stitch these completely different things together into a coherent organism though.

Mmmm. Emilia Clarke... It gives me horrible vibes of 2009 Star Trek ie 'it's not a full reboot or a continuation it's a half assed halfway house'. Still, at least Terminator is _supposed_ to be about trying to change history. I don't mind the 'sys' bit if it's supposed to be a company name or something, merging 'genesis' with 'system', but why has the 'e' in the middle of the word changed to 'i'? Martin

Funny, I said that about the previous Sarah Conner - played by Lena Heady. Indeed, and if they can do that theme well it could be quite interesting. I'm just not sure if a contemporary action movie is going to have the nuance to do it well. Trademark issues? It was easier to secure with the different spelling (works both in and out of the frame of the fiction) :-) Karl

One thing I don't like about the Terminator series is they are always jumping on the reset button. This film is where everything happens but we hit reset & it happens in the next one. The 4th film was really the only time something happened but that was with a time jump & not just giving us the present day after the "this is the future" opening.

It could be a pleasant surprise. You never know. I recall thinking X-Men: First Class looked awful in promotion but turned out for me to be my favourite of the X-Men films by a country mile.

Always strikes me as counter-productive. 'Come and see this film for this shocking twist". What, the one you've just told me about? Once you tell me it is no longer surprising or shocking...
