Has BW Basic Rattrap ever been knocked off ? I bought a Rattrap gun handle at AA last week from the fine people at T4E. When I got it hom it turned out to: A) not match the colours on my Rattrap B) not fit the hand hole on either of my Rattraps C) not fit the other half of the gun which I had No blame on the Jon and his team, I never suspected a thing till I got it home and tried it with my existing parts. Looking at the pics on TFU and Cobra Island Toys it looks exactly the same as what's there, it just doesn't fit my existing parts. So is there a slightly larger KO out there which I've got the part from or is there a significant variation affecting the gun's size & colour plus the size of the peg holes that I'm unaware of? |

There have been oversized Chinese knock offs according to Wikipedia, though they give no detail. A quick Google search for "Rattrap knock off" also found a couple of results but nothing in detail on the first few pages. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rattrap_%28Transformers%29#Toys |

Ta. I thought that was probably the case.
Fortunately the Rattrap head I bought did fit and is, along with my previously headless body, enjoying a new owner.
So..... anyone got a spare Rattrap gun handle? Or need one for a slightly oversized KO?

His Japanese incarnation, a sumo wrestler called Powerhug, was one of the precious few Japanese TFs I managed to find during my visit to Singapore back in 2001. For that reason alone he has a special place in my heart.

I got him back in 98/99. It is trying to get those yellow tabs to stay in & not popping out & him folding up all the time. Wasn't he repainted in Japan?

Pitching botcon ideas to my friend as he likes to digibash sets. I accidentally stumbled onto something bad.
I suggested Gen Waspinator in Fox kids colors as a generic troop builder clone (possibly virulant clones).
I'm now embarking on a quest to troopbuild the actual toy. As of tonight, I already have two. >_<
I hate how my brain works.

Excuse me, but I'm fully aware of what it is as it's been in my collection for years.
Beast Wars is my thing.
It stood as my Waspinator until Generations Waspinator.
I love the fox kids repaints. They are unto beast wars what g2 repaints were to g1.

Never thought of it that way. To my eye they're highly variable:
Cheetor: generally OK but the spots are an odd colour
Dinobot: FAB
Rhinox: Half way there. It needed black rhino skin to go with the red robot parts
Waspinator: see above. The gold and pale blue are bad bedfellows
TM Cheetor: odd. show have gone stealth or Tigatron
TM Tarantulas: odd colour choices for the character but it works and then some.
TM Rhinox: My eyes, my eyes!
TM Rattrap: OK, Not sure why they bothered when the WalMart Rattrap had been out for a bit. First TM to 2 recolours.
TM Airazor: Zombie Airazor: washed out compared to the original
TM Waspinator: Let's no muck about here: it's TM Buzzsaw! A must have, superb repaint.
Terrorsaur completes the TM repaint set by getting a repaint as Dinobot Terranotron.... except they forgot to repaint the legs. Rhinox, Terrorsaur, Cheetor and Airazor then get repainted in Armada to varying degrees of success.
I'm really surprised that TM Waspinator never popped up again repainted in Starscream grey, perhaps with a new head? Struck me as an absolute no brainer given the character association and jet mode. But there again I always wanted an almost all yellow original Waspinator as Bumblebee (swap Buzzsaw's purple for yellow and green for black). oooo, what a 2 pack that would make! I have money for you Hasbro/Fan club!

I have never been able to bring myself to buy ANY version of TM Rhinox. Maybe I'm missing an excellent toy, but hoooo boy... Every time I look at it I just cringe.
But I've decided to buy up the FKs that I don't have already, and repurpose them as different characters.

We have an odd relationship with the FK line here in the UK.
We didn't get the first six toys: the 4 older beasts and TM Cheetor and Tarantulas. I recall the last 2 being particularly hard to obtain.
The last 4 Transmetals showed up and were easily available in TRU when BM just wasn't showing up.

For my BW repurposes:
FK TM Wasp will of course be TM Buzzsaw
Walmart TM Rattrap- TM Packrat
FK Wasp- clone troops... Because I can TOTALLY see Megatron trying yet again to make a clone army, only Waspinator gets accidentally involved.
Japanese Puzzle TM Rattrap- new character named Puzzler. An engineer.
FK TM Cheetor- for years I used it as Rodimus, but I'm not fond of that anymore.

Having just caught sight of FKTM Rhinox under the desk, the blue doesn't look as bad as I thought. It's not Energon Blue! It's just not the right colour for Rhinox though! Green would have been better.

As you'll see above all the Transmetal moulds have received at least one repaint.
In fact over the entire Beast Wars range only TWO (maybe three at a push) deluxe toys haven't received a significant repaint/remould. Who are they?
