Not thrilled with it. After the loveletter that was Sideswipe, they're just phoning it in with 'bee. Sideswipe was completely nuts, and this one is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Just underwhelming.

Is there really much else to G2 Bee other than the bling? I mean everything with G2 Sideswipe, and we saw everything on our first glimpse tmukhub.proboards.com/post/156463/thread , was stuff that we seen in the comics. G2 Sidewipe was memorable there, G2 Bee.... less so

He had that crazy vac-metal all over him. The shiny paint is fine IMO for a classics or something, but when you have nothing else to draw from that you resort to a made up jetpack? It's time to rethink your choices. Either go all out, or go home. Give him his bling, and recycled Sideswipe's guns. Bugbite is the direction they should have gone.
Or done him in read and made up a new character ala tigertrack

*phew* I had a panic when I saw the original thread title - I didn't want to be torn with having to also get my favourite incarnation of Bumblebee! Luckily a quick look at the picture revealed, as had indeed been picked up on by the time I hit "Reply" that it's just G2 'Bee. So I can stand down.
That said... I do still hope that they do a proper Goldbug release. All they need is a head re-sculpt and to change how the hinge on the back works so that they can give him his hood. And then I can despair.

The jetpack is from the cartoon episode 'Dinobot Island', if that helps any.
I quite like shiny Goldbee... Enough to pick over the normal one? Not sure.

Well, it's not g2. So giant guns he didn't have would be more appropriate, imo.

I'll still probably get it, though. Prowl prooved waiting for hasbro to release the small mps isn't financially worth it. And Bumbles is small enough to fit into a classics display. I'd rather this, than waiting for an overpriced domestic release I'll never find.

It's shiny. It comes with the otherwise-Amazon-exclusive toy face. Sold.

Hooray for the return of G2 Bumblebee. The original survived my collection purge. Still has most of his chrome!
I am pleased he has returned.
Would rather have a Goldbug though.

A Goldbug would have been nice, but a shiny Bee. I could get behind that.

Subtle difference but I'm really drawn to that. I haven't bought the original yet because I just can't get excited about it, but that I can. Maybe I just don't like yellow. Can't explain that. Somehow that looks more like bumblebee to me than the other one, despite being the same toy but the wrong colour. Weird. Can't just be the faces surely.

MP 'Bee is a strange beast. I pre-ordered him the minute that Kapow put him up, because I love G1 'Bee. But with every photo that I saw posted I was starting to question the decision more and more. Thankfully, though, I stood my ground, and the figure once I got it was actually really nice. And, indeed, still is. Sure, it's small, and as a consequence lacks things like articulated fingers, but it's got a suitably clever transformation, and it feels nice and solid. It's good.
But what made it for me was the fact that Kapow also included the Amazon exclusive battle mask. (Bless 'em.) I'm still not that excited about the cartoon accurate faces (because those faces accurately represent the output of a low-cost animation sweat-shop), but the battle mask just looks right to me. And is what, for me, makes it a Masterpiece. Because, I think, it's a combination of both the animation model and the original toy.
Maybe it's just me, but yeah, to get to the point I was trying to make, it is the battle mask that makes all the difference. And sure, the gold paint does look very shiny and nice, but I'm still not regretting my decision to buy the original MP 'Bee. If it's what finally makes you take the plunge, though, I'm pretty sure you won't regret it.
Although, that all said, I still want a proper MP Goldbug. Because I am an idiot.

I agree about the mask. That was what sold me on getting him, but I just kept dithering. Of course I've just realised that this G2 one doesn't have the exosuit, so I may yet get the original for completion's sake.

On the subject of the exosuit, I can assure you that it really isn't worth it. I mean, it's not bad, per se, it's just not great either. I think if I had also dithered I'd now be picking up the gold one, because, eh, who cares? (Although I do currently on my desk have Sunstorm treading on Daniel's head, so you know - there is a silver lining...)

Yes, but I'm struggling to find a decent like for like comparison.
BBTS it's $80 vs $65 but there's mark up there

Those are largely the prices we'll be facing when/if they get a domestic release over here.

I always preferred Goldbug to Bumblebee as a character back in the day. I had the toys of both and in that respect preferred Bumblebee but still loved Goldbug because I loved the 'pull back and go' action feature.

I feel a little foolish as I only just realised (well yesterday) that the back of the car spins around in robot mode. Only a minor difference, but it does tidy everything up so much. If you dont do it you end up half way to a Goldbug type hood.
It did make me realise how little reengineering it would take to make a good Goldbug. Alternatively a mistransformed G2 Bee and 3p head replacement should make a good substitute.
The mould would make a good Goldbug as Goldbugs car mode was slightly more realistic than Bees. Plus make the change for one throttlebot and they can make 3 more probably using the same re-shells that hopefully will be made for Hubcap, Cliffjumper and Bumblejumper.

Prices seem odd for this. $65 BBTS, but $38.50 Robot Kingdom? That seems like a much bigger difference than usual. Omegalock it's the same price as the first one. Weird.

Why does he have a big panel in his chest?

It's a flip round panel that's plain in vehicle mode and has an Autobot symbol in robot mode.

I decided the symbol side looks worse so leave the blank side out and pretend its a g1 rub sign indent. Even if Bee didnt have one, which I cant remember.
