As soon as Bay started dithering the 2016 date was probably out of the window. Star Trek is going to have a hard enough time getting done for next year and they are already up and running. TF now has 9 months or so to figure out where to go from here.
I'm happy anyway. Generations has been hitting it out of the park since coming back for the past year or so and this should mean Combiner Wars or at least he general Generations line running for the whole of next year. Plenty of time to do all the scramble city teams.

Should they pick up where TF4 left off? It would be Cybertron based seeing Prime was heading back to deal with his creators. So no more humans, the whole film could be CGI. Also no need for earth based mode or getting in real cars - ok they do loose funding from companies paying to get their cars featured & toy made from their new car - but then the toy designers don't have to make the toy fit the car. Bumblebee could have been smaller if he wasn't fitting that car mode

I'd have thought if they're going the solo character / ensemble big film route like Marvel then TF5 should be Autobots without Prime taking on Galvatron, then the first solo venture would be Prime meeting his makers.
But then Star Wars isn't doing it quite like that is it? Rogue One is a new spin off mini-cast set pre-episode four, which is an approach I wasn't expecting. So films wouldn't have to be chronological.

I'd imagine 5 will be Earth based, Prime in space makes a better follow up purely because it would essentially be all CG and take forever to produce.
As long as Paramount and Hasbro are serious about this expanded universe Bay coming back isn't so bad, even if hes directing he cant direct all of them. Besides its not like hes a terrible director as such, the writing has largely been awful, but the visuals have been good. If the writers room has any good and is able to keep Bays input as limited to the visuals then TF5 has potential.
I just watch AOE a few days ago and I have to say, it was much better than I remembered and I already had a generally positive view of it. It's bloated, but TFs as characters and on screen a lot, by far the best background mythology and toning down of annoying characters and crap humour. If 5 continues in hte same direction I'll be reasonably happy.

Quite an arc forthcoming then. Mr. Davis revealed that the Writers’ Room went on for 3 successful months. The end result was Transformers Live Action Movies for the next 10 Years. He mentioned that Transformers 5 is on it’s way… AND also Transformers 6, 7 and 8. In fact, the whole idea of having a Writers’ Room is to generate stories till 2025.What I take from this is that I will still have toys to buy past my 50th birthday. This brings me a little inner peace.

An interesting thing I learned today is that Hasbro's view that toys are just for kids changed when they made Aaron Archer's team redundant. Combiner Wars is a result of Hasbro listening to what the older fan wants, as is the increased release rate of Masterpieces. We're set for a bit. Which is nice

I can get excited by the prospect of owning loads of new Headmasters next year, but less so about the joy of potentially completing my Energon collection. Things are only getting better! Besides, I can't look to the past to complete my masterpiece line up.

Side note about TF4, my missus buys the atrocious Heat magazine every week, when they reviewed Transformers 4 their overall review was that they only gave it 1 star because there were too many large robots no one cared about and not enough human interaction and story building with each other. As with previous films the focus was too much on the robots and not the story that was emerging between the human characters.
I thought it was hilarious that they had completely missed the point of the film and am still slightly unnerved and disgusted by their lack of knowledge about the world!

They should take a look at the first 3 films.
1 - lots of scene in the house , no bots 2 - class room scene taking up lots of the film with no bots in sight 3 - lots of board room scene & other inner building, no bots again.
