Sort of Ghidorah with chicken-heads instead of dragon-heads...and a really bad skin rash. Or perhaps a sort of mutated fusion of the Iron Chicken and Soup Dragon. In which case the McGuffin for this film would have to be the Bluest Ringpud.

I am amused by that articles description of Epps as "commanding officer Sergeant Epps". There are two possible readings of that - that they think that Epps was in charge in the first film, or that they think that he is an officer with a commanding presence.

Both technically wrong (given Epps is a sergeant and therefore enlisted personnel not an officer...). :-)

Orange and redish colour - Check! Yellow spoiler behind shoulders in robot mode - check! Flame details - check! Young looking robot face - check!

Nope - not really! Absolutely nothing that even hints at the character as usual.

Surely by now folk have realised that the movies just use random names for their robots and any resemblances to past incarnations is purely coincidental? We've had 10 years of this now.

So Hotrod & Onsluaght added to the list of characters & that preview shoot of them being underwater (humans not the bots apart from who ever the droid CGI is going to be)

Also Hasbro are not going to flood the market with TF5 toys like with TF4 - but they need to make them better. Cheaper plastic & increase the price doesn't help.

Hot Rod looks just like Bumblebee without the wings. Where's his trademark yellow spoiler? That has absolutely nothing of hot rod in it at all. I suppose the alt mode will be an Earth car as opposed to Cybertronian.

And flames - He's the one who is actually supposed to have flames!!! In pretty much all the media, Hot Rod's look has always been pretty much the same.
I keep thinking this might make an acceptable Wildrider but only given the colour scheme.

I wonder if this is why he has a change of colour scheme in Jack's Lost Lights cover?

Looks like he'll be a black car with red panels making it look like flames. Like how Optimus is a blue truck with red flames because a red truck doesn't show up on film.

The overall shape/design isn't bad, just the piss poor colour scheme.

I think the design is bad for Hot Rod. The right colours should be the minimum we expect - he needs his spoiler, flames and face. Hot Rod is just as iconic as Optimus to me in his features.
I know we should just expect this thing after 10 years of it, but it doesn't make it right. How would an X-Men fan feel if they heard Storm was going to be a four armed body builder guy in her film appearances?


Still, neat colouring work Andy - it does improve it. (although it could also be Movie Atomizer).
