Bah! First order through the new EU-friendly Books, etc. site arrived and I got CUTA'd anyway!
Have sent them an email. Book Depository is good about refunding the tax when this happens, as well as the handling fee. I hope this doesn't become a pattern for Books, etc. though as otherwise they're going to lose a lot.

In the UK they are, but not Germany.
It isn’t a high tax rate even, 7% I think, but of course the sting is in the handling fee

Higher book prices are probably due to The Economy

Yeah, some Image books [Void Rivals] and various manga I collect haven't been seen on booksetc recently. I've been using Speedyhen, will give Awesome Books a go at some point.

Just preordered the second Aliens Epic from Awesome, who then charged my card right away. Pretty sure Speedy Hen, for one, don't do that.

It very much looks like Books Etc is OK again with all the missing Epics, and then some, turning up yesterday. Here's the results of my dalliance with other book suppliers: firstly Awesome Books: I've never had a package arrive in that condition and the book be unscathed!!! Then today's deliveries from SpeedyHen: Both fine. I know who I'd be using again if BooksEtc had another blip..... |
