unless... since we know that Rodimus is a tooled up Hot Rod, maybe that's the voyager gimmick here and Starscream there is an additionally armoured up version of a sleeker bot within? This is what I'm wondering. It's gotta be a hell of a gimmick because...I don't use these terms often... but that looks "playskool." It looks like it's made with large wonky proportions and ultra simplified transformation for five year olds.

I like that this line looks like a children's toy line rather than an adult collectors line.

I dunno, I'm a bit unsure about turning the Titan Masters from heads into random boxes. I'd understand if they were engines. Or if they had transparent plastic so could glow when inserted into bigger figures. I can see what you mean. Some thoughts - mainly generated in he bath where all the best thinking goes on: Each of the Primemasters carries a symbol representing one of the 13 Primes. I'd heard about this idea but it seemed a bit of a mess and reading the wiki does not really help as what it is changes from universe to universe tfwiki.net/wiki/ThirteenBut I get that they each represent some kind of power up, like a Zodiac symbol or the shields on Nexo Knights. We've only seen one, it's a pretender, Skullgrin, but since we've seen another Pretender, Cloudburst, driving Beachcomber and had a third, Bludgeon, hinted at in the Q&A it's a reasonable assumption at this stage that the Primemasters are all Pretenders. The problem here is the one we can see, Skullgrin, is named Leige Maximo. Now I'm guessing that that's the symbol on him but it does create some confusion when the toy is obviously Skullgrin. There was a very similar naming confusion with the Titanmasters at the start last year. So if the Primemasters each represent a Prime and there are 12/13 Primes are there 12/13 Primemasters? Does each Prime symbol have only one Primemaster? By my count there's currently (at wave 5) 15 single packed Titanmasters, so just 12 next year looks a very low number, The Titanmaster have been bulked out by repacks, I'm wondering what the strategy is here. The interaction between the Primemasters and the deluxe & Voyagers looks very vague at the moment. It seems to involve add on parts not needed by the main figure. The only point you can see the deluxe ones is in news.tfw2005.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2017/07/3801.jpg and there they look like a big box on the chest. Or possibly a folded up hand. You can see Starscream's a lot clearer in his official picture news.tfw2005.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2017/07/Power-of-the-Primes-Starscream.jpg and that's clearly a pair of feet. So in their efforts to conceal the combination gimmick Hasbro have made a pigs of showing just how the Primemaster gimmick works. It's more obvious with the Leaders: we're told they each come with a Matrix and you can see Rodimus' has a solid core that pops out, shaped very much like a Titanmaster, so you assume you can fit Primemasters in there instead. Good, not a problem with that, this Leader powered by that Prime. We can only see ONE leader but the deluxe becomes a leader power up gimmick here seems to be crying out to be used on Powermaster Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus so why the **** did they do them in recent lines? Magnus was an option on the list we saw last year to vote on news.tfw2005.com/2016/12/01/power-primes-fan-vote-vote-next-leader-cybertron-329419 and I can see how to make that gimmick work on Star Sabre, Thunderwing and possibly Optimus Primal. The Legends looks business as usual and back compatible with the Titanmasters. Good. Outback/Gears/Swerve retools from Brawn and more Throttlebots please. A decent Warpath would be lovely. The Deluxes and Voyagers are a whole separate matter .....

Deluxes and Voyagers..... There's a bit of repetition from above here, but it's necessary to understand what's going on. A line wide gimmick and a separate gimmick with just two sizes has muddied the waters It's obvious they combine. Hasbro's tried to do a CW Voyager Optimus and hide it but it hasn't worked. The jets are blatant Aerialbot retools, with the combiner ports visible, and you can see the combiner port on Jazz who FINALLY has a fold over bonnet chest. Sideswipe and Red Alert please Hasbro! Starscream's ports have been found in his hands and feet: www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/san-diego-comic-con-2017-post-panel-transformers-display-images.1115975/page-5#post-14846814www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/san-diego-comic-con-2017-post-panel-transformers-display-images.1115975/page-5#post-14846881He seems to be carrying the feet for his combiner as missile launchers news.tfw2005.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2017/07/Power-of-the-Primes-Starscream.jpg but he doesn't have them in the case pictures. These are what he uses to interact with the Primemasters. The deluxe have something on the chest which might be a hand news.tfw2005.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2017/07/3801.jpg again absent in the case and again what they use to interact with Primemasters. At a guess... the spare hands, cos with four deluxe you with have four of them, plug into the back of the feet as heel spurs just like Starscream's guns are doing in his official shot above. As to what makes up each combiner..... well I'm afraid the CW W1/2 Aerialbots/Stunticon alert is going off! news.tfw2005.com/2017/07/20/san-diego-comic-con-2017-hasbro-product-panel-344936Jazz and Dreadwind are WAVE ONE news.tfw2005.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2017/07/3771.jpgnews.tfw2005.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2017/07/3757.jpgBlackwing is WAVE TWO news.tfw2005.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2017/07/3759.jpgSo, given 4 deluxe per case, there's 2 Decepticon Deluxe and 3 Autobot Deluxe plus an Autobot Voyager missing from these combiners.... unless their going for some cross faction combination united by Prime to hurt our heads. If I was having a punt, I'd go for Thundercracker and Skywarp as deluxe to complete Starscream, one in each wave. Use the toy which was Ghost Starscream in Grand Galvatron. Of course two Voyager Torsos per wave soon creates a lot of spare torsos.... I wonder if they might do something like 1 Torso, 1 Triplechanging Titanmaster to mix things up and give us Apeface and Snapdragon.... Hiding the Combining Gimmick when it's so obvious seems very odd especially as it's hurt explaining how the Primemasters interact.

Thinking about it....
Titans Return has had lot of weapons for Titanmasters to sit in. The problem there is the Titanmaster for the toy needs to be the head.
Now if they had weapons with seats for Primemasters to sit in, with the Primemaster acting as the power for the weapon, that wouldn't be the worst reinterpretation of Targetmasters I'd ever seen.
And yet I don't see a single or combined weapon with a seat.

I don't know if anyone's had a good looks at Jazz (need to read all the posts since yesterday) - going by the single image Hasbro shot images that are up. The mid section of the car bonnet swings down to cover the CW peg in robot mode & looks like 4 folds up behind it.

Combiner titanmaster? Just read your post about them going in the weapons made me think Monster pretenders The idea was the Primemaster accessory would serve as a hand/foot, but I came up with that before I'd seen the armour pieces the left out of the deluxe and Voyager last night

It might be that there are no teams as such in this line, more that some figures have been made to include CW connectivity to add more variety and options to the CW line.
The way Jazz has been done does suggest the possibility of Sideswipe, which would be cool. It'd also be nice if Hasbro did a proper Ratchet.
Unicron will be the Titan. The design team all but said that in the Q&A at Toy fair, he fits this line's Matrix/Prime theme, and now IDW have given him his own book.

If the leaders are all about powersuit upgrades, then I no longer want a leader Grimlock, and will prefer the dinobots to be held off until the next line.

Mad Titans Return Boxset Theory #2: Here's the vote for the next Prime: news.tfw2005.com/2017/01/23/power-primes-fan-vote-open-now-331405 Most of these, with the exception of Arcee and Hound, lend themselves to being Leader class toys. On that list are Thunderewing and Ultra Magnus. We know the first leader is Rodimus Prime from the SDCC reveals. Thanks to the Trypticon Breakfast Cereal Box we now know the identity of all four of the the Titanmasters that would have been in the boxsets snakas.blog95.fc2.com/blog-entry-6040.html
Rodimus Prime | Ultimate Speed Boost Power
| Thunderwing | Ultimate Strength Boost Power
| Ultra Magnus | Ultimate Intelligence Boost Power | Scorponok | Ultimate Fireblast Power |
Was Hasbro using the boxset heads to hint at the POTP Leaders? We shall test this theory over the next year or so....

Another Magnus so soon seems odd, but it could very well be a remould of the Rodimus Deluxe/trailer idea.

I think we're game for a Magnus with TFing cab.
Which would then give us a TF ing cab that could be used for an Optimus

If the leaders are all about powersuit upgrades, then I no longer want a leader Grimlock, and will prefer the dinobots to be held off until the next line. That depends. I'd be all over a Powersuit Grimlock if the big version took cues from his Pretender Shell, or if the unarmoured robot was designed to look like his Action Master body. *continues living in a dreamworld*

So the titanmasters are powersuits, the leaders are powersuits, but the deluxes and voyagers are Combiner Wars again?

I am very confused. What exactly is PotP about? And is there a Prowl? Instead of heads, the Titanmasters turn into boxes with a bobble on them. Also the deluxes and voyagers are Combiner Wars Leaders are powesuits Some of them have holes for the boxes which does nothing. But they also fit inside the Matrix. DO YOU SEE SHOCKPROWL? (It feels like it was supposed to be Powermasters and then they chickened out?)

Ots just speculated the voyagers and deluxes are combiners. Starscream and Dread/Blackwing have combiner ports though. Unless it's just one combiner they're doing.

No, unless that Decepticon combiner also has an Autobot, Jazz, in it

They also said (and showed) that the primemasters plug into the chests of the deluxes. It's completely plausible that they recycled the CW combiner plug engineering and adapted it to this purpose.
It's also equally plausible that the ports cound on Starscream relate to the undisclosed voyager gimmick. God Bomber uses CW ports on his legs for no other purpose than to aid his personal combination gimmick. Sometimes it's easier to recycle engineering techniques you've already pioneered.
I'm not saying these AREN'T combiners. I'm saying it's pure fan speculation at this point that they are, as Hasbro has not said *anything* about combiners beyond Dreadwing itself.
I hope not though, because I'm sick of combiners.
