You can't go around choosing the leader of your planet on the basis of who a doddering, rusty, old fossil of a robot throws a shiny Geode at! To be fair we're seeing right now democracy works. I think we should go with that and see where it leads. ;-) Of course, inevitably this'll simply set up the next civil war in the IDW-verse. This new Prime will somehow have more legitimacy than Optimus, and will become a direct challenge to Starscream's leadership. At which point we will truly see the violence inherent in the system.

I'm pretty sure we do fairly often. And also that Hasbro wouldn't release a toy of Sausagemus Prime.

I thought for sure there was a dedicated PotP thread.
Either way, transformers.com has the "vote for the next prime" vote live. You can vote in each category: Honor- Ultra Magnus, Hound, Arcee Order- Megatron, Shockwave, Star Saber Chaos- Thunderwing, Optimus Primal (Really? Screw you hasbro), and "Unknown Evil."
I don't give a crap what hasbro makes IDW do, I voted for toys. We just got a decent enough Ultra Magnus, a good Thunderwing is coming one way or another, universe Hound is perfect in every way, and we get several Megatrons a year. We need a good Arcee (because generations suuuuuuucked), we've never gotten a Classics Shockwave, and I will always vote BW, even if as a screw you to hasbro's current "We hate BW" team.

I'm a little wary of votes to influence stories, but I went with:
Arcee - female prime, feels like it would be a good moment for that Star Saber - religious zealot has interesting story possibilities Unknown Evil - better the devil you, er...
Most of the other options felt inappropriate; IDW Magnus would not fit at all, Hound is a bit random, Megatron _could_ be interesting but it might mess up his current arc, Shockwave and Thunderwing would require some serious story convolutions.
Arcee is my top pick. Good opportunity for publicity, too. Would also rile the MRAs, which would be fun to watch.

So I guess Hasbro are redefining the word 'prime' "Prime" has been used as a military rank, elected leader, robo-pope, demigods, and some combination of all of the above. Without context, however, this seems to be consistant with a few of the above. So I'd respectfully disagree as there seems to be no redefinition here.

Except the thread never got retitled, and I never found one with a proper title. Thus it remained a speculation thread when I tried to find a proper PotP thread. That's my point.

I kinda wish Hasbro had put Windblade or Magna Pyra up for vote just to hear the wailing and male tears of the TFW board.

Eh, I'd be with TFW if that was the case, for Windblade at least. Windblade isn't bad because she's a female character. She's bad because she's a boring nothing character constantly rammed down the throat of fandom by Corporate. Thank goodness she's not there!
I have no opinion on Magna Pyra besides her awful colour scheme.

I will have to agree with CJ there. At least the way that she's written in the IDWverse, she's pretty interesting, especially given her developing relationship with The Prime. Having not really watched nuRiD though, I'm not sure how she fares in that cartoon...
I'm definitely going Arcee though, for reasons of both timeliness, TFW tears and getting a decent mold. (Although as I have probably elsewhere, she looks good in the Combiner Hunters colour scheme.)
As to the others, I'll definitely go Primal in Chaos. And then... yeah, I have no idea.
Megatron would be interesting for IDW (he could be made Prime in his absence from Cybertron, and that'd be interesting when he got back), but it's true he has had a lot of decent toys recently. Star Saber would be good because he'd finally get a US toy release, and he's a nutter in the IDW verse, which'll take things back to the whole corruption of the Primes thing. And Shockwave it'd be good to have a decent classics toy of, and OF COURSE he's going to come back from the dead in the IDWverse at some point, and that'd be a great redemption arc. So... yeah. Tough one, that one.

It doesn't. And in all fairness will probably only have as much to do as Combiner Wars and Titans Return have, which is pretty negligible.

I personally am extrapolating and speculating as to what might happen in the comics. Although indeed, it's not a given that IDW would incorporate everything about Power of the Primes into the comics.
That said though, given they did indeed incorporate Windblade and Victorion, I'd be surprised if they didn't in same way reference the arrival of a new Prime. But as I say, it's just speculation. But not speculation to discount completely, either.

I haven't actually read anything from John Barber or Maigread Scott since Combiner Wars due to my LCS closing, so I don't really know integrated those two characters are. I'd assumed Victorion had faded into the background a bit at least, because I don't see too much about her on the old social medias.

Round 1 votes are in already. Round 2 voting on Feb 1st will be between:
ULTRA MAGNUS OPTIMUS PRIMAL STAR SABER UNKNOWN EVIL
Hmmmm. Magnus won't win as he just had a toy. Primal just got an MP toy (though not in the US) but I think that rules him out. Keeping UNKNOWN EVIL mysterious means he clearly is an upcoming story point in some media. Star Saber got an MP toy.
Therefore, UNKNOWN EVIL will win and as he wins his name will be revealed.
