Appropriate that I see that post, having just finished watching the Walking Dead...

OBVIOUSLY this is Overlord, but would you buy a third time as Thunderwing?

Blimey he looks good. I was going to skip and wait for Overlord, but that's one nice looking robot.

Blimey he looks good. I was going to skip and wait for Overlord, but that's one nice looking robot. Likewise. That is very nice indeed. I might be tempted to double-dip. Provided that Smyths have another of their wonderful sales on. ;-) And of course an additional bonus to double-dipping will be that you'll be able to mix and match parts between him and Overlord. The combinations are endless! Well okay, there's six. Which is close to endless. For someone with a very short attention span.

Did the person designing this toy forgot who they where doing half way? Overlord & Thunderwing being 2 characters who don't have the same parts.

It is a bit of a head scratcher as to how they got from Overlord to Thunderwing/Black Shadow. But all three are Phase Sixers in IDW so maybe that had some influence. Even Flywheels makes slightly more sense, but I suspect he'll be another Blitzwing now.
Overlord will be a complete redo of the jet/upper body while the lower body/tank will be more or less the same.

Really liking the look of that Skyshadow. Not sure I want to spring for it a second time as Thunderwing (I really like the existing Generations T-Wing) or a third time as Overlord, but I can see me being tempted by it as Skyshadow I will admit.

Looking at that picture again, it's a bit cheeky for them to claim that Skyshadow has four forms. I'd argue that tank/plane is one form, since it exists simultaneously. Unless they're also counting each half of the robot, in which case it has six forms.
I realise I'm being a pedant here. It's Friday, let me let my hair down. What little of it I have anyway.

That's what I mean. Only three forms, not four.

OBVIOUSLY this is Overlord, but would you buy a third time as Thunderwing? I think that question reveals why Skyshadow is first. Overlord and Thunderwing are more popular characters. People will buy them no matter what. But Blackshadow is a less popular character. Sell him first as the new toy mould and people will buy it cos it is a new toy mode whereas they'll buy Overlord & Thunderwing later for the character. If Skyshadow/Blackshadow came late they'd just go "Meh, an Overlord/Thunderwing repaint"

Given that Thunderwing is an option for the power of the primes poll, do we think this retool is a given, or do we expect him to be all new?

I can't see them doing Blackshadow and NOT doing Thunderwing. Money left on table.

They may tool the headmaster gimmick out and release him as a normal TF in PotP.
Most TR don't have that option, but some of the voyagers do seem to.

Leader, not Voyager, but the point still stands.
I can see the Titanmaster head staying in as the vehicles use the pilot gimmick.

I know he's a leader, but it's hard to comment on if it's plausible on a mold that's not available, and no one has a clue how it works. We've only got two leader molds, one is a retool of a non-headmaster (but still isn't a typical TF, either), and the other doesn't seem to be possible without major reworking of the torso mold. (Never mind after soundwave, the only two plausible retail uses out of it are now spent)
So voyagers are really the only solid examples, currently.

Should we avoid getting Shadow & just wait for Thunder / Lord?

Matter of personal taste. If you ant him, buy him, but I could see people passing this one.

I had every intention of passing this one because who cares about skyshadow? I want Overlord because he's the only powermaster I don't have, and I want Thunderwing because Marvel. But Skyshadow? That Generations deluxe is good enough.
Then I saw these pictures and I kinda have to have him now.
