He is actually a rather good Overlord. Obviously, he lacks Mega-Sama and Giga-Sama, but apart from that he is a really decent job. Do them as Titanmasters and slot into the chest? Different faces for him? |

Mad Takara Overlord theory:
We know Overlord & Skyshadow has TWO Titanmasters on their Parts tress, one of Giga and one for Mega.
We know Overlord can open his chest up to store Titanmasters inside.
We know Skyshadow, and presumably Overlord, doesn't have to remove his head to Transform and even if you do the helmet still sits there on the shoulders.
Takara Overlord gets a new non Titanmaster head. Both Titanmasters are supplied with him but instead of faces have engine detail panels and fit into the chest.

A friend pointed out a minor flaw in this. It does not make it any less plausible, but it is a mark against it.
With all the work done to convert PMOP to God Ginrai, and if they were gonna remove the TM gimmick from Overlord, why not Ginrai, too?

I wouldn't put it past Takara to do some sort of platinum God Ginrai boxset in the next year or so though |

I'm liking Phil's theory, although CJ does indeed point out the flaw there. I guess the main reason for them not retooling a fixed head on to Ginrai and giving him a Powermaster instead is that that would have been a lot of re-engineering, aside from the cosmetic work they did for the cab/chest. With Overlord the work would be a lot simpler, so possibly more likely. Maybe.

So no reengineering there required at all. So sculpt a new engine piece on the titanmaster to replace the robot face, and maybe new lower legs that have a clip or peg hole in them. While they resculpted his entire robot chest piece, they now sculpt in pegs that the titanmaster engine plugs into. |

Leaders are proving hard to get anyway, and yeah SOMETHING will suffer because of the movie.
I'll yell when the preorder goes up.
Sky Shadow's a fun toy. Not perfect, but fun nonetheless and I'm expecting Overlord to be as good if not better. Just don't expect amazing things from the base mode!

I thought of the perfect retool of Overlord...  New chestplate, new titanmaster based on Optimus Prime, with the autobrand face. Balance it out with Sixshot retooled as The Ultimate Warrior |
