They have now revised the autograph policy, as long as its officially liscensed you're good.
An improvement, but still...

Well at least the organisers are listening to feedback.

I still think it's horseshit. If I created a bit of artwork for my own use that I wanted the guest to sign, as I typically do at the UK shows, that wouldn't be allowed? Bollocks.

To be fair, if a company is running a show based on their property I think it is reasonable of them not to allow unofficial stuff there.

but fan art that isn't being sold, tho'? But how do Hasbro know that those filthy fans aren't illegally monetising it? Everything needs to go through the corporate mill. Money money lovely money. It's all about making money for Hasbro not about enjoyment and fun. Fandom is not about being passionate about something, it's about shovelling your cash into a soulless corporation's money pit. Also maybe they are worried someone would swan up with a pic of futa Windblade to get signed

but fan art that isn't being sold, tho'? At an unnofficial con I would say fan art is fine but at an official one I would side with the organisers if they say "sorry, can't have that." It is their IP, after all. -Ralph

its still naïve and a bit stupid since look how many people on here alone considered going and then didn't with those rules, if they have lost 30 people worldwide due to the rules that's more money lost than if allowing simple fan art in.

I think its probably to do with the type of fanart that could turn up. If something inappropriate is handed to a guest it could cause offense. You could have staff approving items in the line. Sside from slowing things down and potentially causing arguments, its very much down to opinion wht is or isnt rude or offensive you might find one person allows your fan art in one line then the next line its refused.
Thats not to say it is particularly fair, especially if you consider that Kiss player stuff will be on the approved list. But from a big business point of view I can see why its easier to say yes to licsenced material because its already been approved by the lawyers, and no to fan art that hasn't.
More of a problem is that theres not way to guarantee meeting any of the guests. At $600 there should be some guarantee.

Interesting set of panels. I reckon I could quite happily sit through that lot.

I mean yes some good panels, but you probably need to be interested in more than just Transformers to get a full day out of it. I'd guess the only one that might offer something different from Botcon is Hasbros making of, which potentially could go in to more details. The star Wars toy line ones sound like they could be good too.
But,
Cullen and Welker are signing for a grand total of 3 and a half hours over 2 days. There are going to be a lot of very disappointed people. (Stan Lee isnt signing at all (yet) thats kinda dissapointing too.)
I am jealous of anyone who gets to see their joint panel though.
But Chewbacca Mom has a panel the same length as Cullen and Welkers.... I just....... I.......

The 'Hasbro team talk about the cool Transformers villains' panel sounds a bit pish though. The rest looks good.
Not $600 good, mind.

Yeah, but the $600 is a bit misleading. It's actually £46 a day, or £125 for all three for general admission. Cullen and Welker together is probably something beyond a fan run convention, and the behind the scenes stuff could be interesting if they do it right. It's not *that* bad really.
Mind you, that said, TFN is vastly better value and were I looking at the two side by side I know where I'd rather be.
(Mark Ryan! what a superb guest! Get him to do his swordplay demonstration, he's massively entertaining).

Even at the expense of pissing off the people who actually did pay full price? Wow Hasbro, wow.
I see from the sales made that they've shifted 200 or so one day adult tickets, but virtually no three day ones. If sales are poor I hope if anything this is giving them the feedback they need to improve. Like not putting a 'family' event on days when kids are at school for a start.

I would love to know what sort of attendance Hasbro expected for this. I imagine it must be a pretty big number for them to make the effort.

A similar thing happened with Bricklive events recently. Lots of 'two tickets for the price of one' promos in the run up to their Glasgow event, to the consternation of some folk online who had paid for full pice tickets a few months before.

I think you're right. When I looked at the programme I couldn't see a need to be there for three days. We can but watch and wait and see how it pans out.

Sure you might get more money now, but do you think ANYONE will be buying tickets in advance next year? (unless they've already thrown in the towel and there won't be a next year)
