Riddle me this, chaps. Why is the TLK reissue of the AoE Leader Prime we're getting said to be 23 cm, when the Takara Calibur TLK remould AoE Prime is 30cm? was the original First Edition AoE Leader Prime bigger than the one that followed and the Calibur version is remoulded from the First Edition one? It looks amazing, but there's no point having that with the new Leader Megs if he's 7cm taller than him. This is because the Japanese one has a 7cm top hat

Another TLK toy I need to buy

I preordered the Voyager wave from ID the orher day, it looks great.
Because the other Voyager in the wave is Scorn and it would make no sense to have a single Dinobot, I've went out and bought Grimlock, Slash, Slug and Steelbane (I'm counting him even though he's a dragon) and will now need to buy Strafe and Dragonstorm when they're released.

I was originally just intending to get the Beasts and Leader Megatron from this line, but having now seen the film I'm tempted to get a lot more. Nitro and Cogman certainly.

Because Nitro is not a headmaster, but is titanmaster compatible, while Cogman is both these things... I'm pretty sure this means Cogman was intended to take Nitro's body in the movie to show off his headmaster ability.
Otherwise, it's kinda really off that Nitro is the only toy in this whole line who's TM compatable, but isn't one.

Agreed.
Unless it wasn't until the third wave of toy designs that they realised to make an accurate scaled Cogman he had to be a Titanmaster figure, then they put the head swap into Nitro at the last minute to give the line's one Titanmaster more purpose.

My word, Steelbane is a heap of shit. I've not been this disappointed with a figure for a good while. The movie dinos have been alright as far as I'm concerned, and I was really looking forward to adding a dragon, but this is a mess of a figure. It's not just the widely documented weak tolerances on the ball joints, the central core of the figure works on a sliding joint that doesn't lock at either end - it relies on very small tabs on the bits that close around it to hold it in place so it is always loose. Then there's the fact the neck and tail are the robot's legs. In both cases the foot has nowhere to go, so they both just sit there inescapably looking like feet. The back end is weak and has nothing to disguise the really odd joint that folds down to make the tail.
Sheesh, this is just rubbish. Floppy mess that has so many exposed areas in dragon mode it barely looks like one.

The robot mode is nice, I'll say that. He is oddly reminiscent of Cybertron Vector Prime with the mottled creams and browns and ornate decoration, but his style doesn't match the other Dinobots who I thought were also supposed to be the ancient Knights of Cybertron. With a coat of varnish on his hip joints he might stand a chance of being posable, but as is he'll do the splits and fall over as soon as you try to do anything with him.

As threatened way back in the new acquisitions thread, I have applied the nail varnish to all ball joints and have since been much, much happier with the toy.
You can get some decent poses out of both modes, and despite the foot kibble (which is easily hand waved with him being a robotic dragon) I have been favouring dragon mode.
The transformation has grown on me a lot as well.
A premium toy at a premium RRP should not have these QC problems, but once I sorted them out I really liked him.

Ahh, I thought this had come up before. I shall apply varnish and see. But the dragon mode... all that empty space at the back. There's just nothing there.

Varnish won't help anything. This thing is a dumpster fire of design that makes Gen Blitzwing look well designed.
On mine all the problems are above the waist. Just gonna copy/paste what I wrote to a friend:
Unless you're a completionist, I do not recommend. And if you HAVE to have it, then just leave it in the box.

That's a great feature! Or would have been had they made any mention of it in the film. Or had the toy been available closer to the release date of the film.
Oh well. I live in hope that the Takara release will contain an Anthony Hopkins Titan Master...

I just had a look at the Leader Megatron in TRU. I wasn't as wowed by it as I was hoping from the pictures we saw. It's a great figure, but like the Leader Prime he has quite a square frame on his back to accommodate the vehicle mode. It spoils the shape of the robot mode somewhat. At £65 I don't think it's *twice* as good as the Voyager.

At £65 I don't think it's *twice* as good as the Voyager. It's £55 pre-order on Kapow and I really wasn't sure about it after watching the early reviews. Definitely not at £65. Now that's it showing up at retail I'll hold off until it bombs in price. I ended up getting AoE Leader Grimlock from Argos for £15.49. It was actually that figure which started me collecting.

I spotted Infernocus in the one of the Toysaurii here in Singapore yesterday. Which excited me. Then I discovered it was priced at 90 dollars. Suffice to say, that excited me a lot less. I left it on the shelf.

I found both leader and voyager megatron thursday. Was not impressed by either.
The more time goes, the less I like megatron's TLK design. It's just... really bland and generic. I mean, you could have named it Skullgrin, Straxus, Inferno, Skyquake, or Bubba Hotep, and it'd work about as well.
I still think they hit their peak with DotM, for Megatron. That was the first and only time a movie Megatron design has actually wowed me.

We don't seem to have had any movement in this line at retail for a while. I'm starting to wonder if wave three will appear at all or whether we're going to have to hope for B&M to step in some way down the line. I didn't go for Scorn or Nitro on import. Pity the genuinely interesting figures were all in the later waves.
