Swiping this from TFW2005 (although I'm doing Interwebs news wrong by stating where I stole it from): Allspark cube knows which mode you are in! When you insert it into your chest! Allspark mode will also kill you! When you insert it into your chest! I've just realised my mistake. I've been paying attention. I wasn't meant to be doing that.

Ha! I had not clicked that the gimmick is what killed Megatron in 2007. They look shit though. I will buy at least three.

By 'as popular as BB-8', do you mean 'obviously a crap attempt to cash in on BB-8s popularity'? Looks more to me like a "ok, the leg-humping, D/S fetishist tiny robot didn't work, but everyone will have forgotten that. Lets try "tiny comedy relief robot" again and see what happens". Karl

Micheal Bay: "BB-8 was cool. Wall.E was cool. What if... right... I kinda... mash them together?"
Hasbro Exec: "GENIUS!" *Gives Bay millions more dollars*

Three headed dragon called Dragonstorm with Cyberfire light feature that interacts with other toys.
Allspark Tech uses small allspark cube to power up toy. Unlocks lights and sounds and features.

Being fair, that Allspark Tech does sounds like a fun gimmick. I hope it's not just the same/similar sound and light function for every toy.

I'll definitely have to pick up at least a couple. Just to have a play around with. And that Megatron... that's THE SEX. It may not scream "Megatron", but that is a GORGEOUS jet mode. I don't think I'll be able to refuse that.

Now that is an action feature I can see being deployed in pub meets. Turnbull must never be allowed to handle one.

Squeeks makes me feel a bit sad. His stupid gormless face. His crap looking alt-mode. The blatant attempt to cash in on another franchises successful character. That infuriatingly deliberate misspelled name.
Megatron looks very very good though. Looking forward to seeing him in bot mode. And Scorn in Voyager scale is just fine by me, even in Crayola red.
I like the look of Dragonstorm and his gimmick, figure could maybe do with a dab of colour to lift it but I can see it's probably done to enhance the effect of the light effects.

eh I don't think Squeeks is cute enough to be a BB8 cash in. He's more like another Movie Wheelie Bet you all blocked him from your minds!!!

I quite like Wheelies toy. He was an annoying wee naff in the movie though.

The BB-8 reference isn't just about being a small cutesy robot. Have you seen him in action? There was a clip on one of the trailers and all he seemingly does is roll about making unintelligible squeaks and whistles.

I'm still liking the appeal of the Allspark figures, but that is some SHOCKINGLY wasteful packaging for that starter pack.

Pfff! McDonalds was doing interactive allspark cubes back in Energon.
Damn though. Megatron looks good. And we might finally have a half decent movie Hound.

There is definitely something in this premium range lark. These are the first movie figures I've ever been impressed by. The premium paint jobs on the older moulds are bringing them up to scratch and these new figures are a real surprise. That leader Megs will probably cost a bomb, but he looks fantastic. Compare that to the leader Prime from AoE. There is a huge shift in aesthetic and quality going on here. If that means an extra fiver on the price points it's probably worth it.
Let's just hope they're as good in hand and aren't a big let down.

It looks to me that Hasbro have a) realised they dumbed way too far down last time b) discovered simply having a movie out wasnt enough to sell toys, even the goodish ones c) embraced the older collectors, Gen, 30th, CW and TR seem to have convinced them its worth the effort.

Funny that we've already seen Premier Slash and Grimlock, yet they weren't in tonight's reveals.
Am I really going to go for a third set of the AoE Dinobots just because these repaints make those moulds sing?
I think so. I reckon Dinobots vs that leader Megatron would be a good display. My restrained 2017 spending is going to be seriously challenged.
