It may also be a US TRU exclusive. No one knows yet what it is.

Did any other store get the Op/BB 2 pack or the Nightwatch leader that Argos had for Movie 1?

Huh! it looks good in photos, but just looks rammed in to its box. Beserker on the other hand looks really well posed in the box. Once they are somewhere south of £15 I'll be tempted to get at least one.

Regardless of the price, it's interesting that the response to the look of these figures is fairly positive on here.

I've wanted a Barricade for years, just kept putting it off. The vehicle modes and transformations are generally pretty good, it's the bot faces that put me off.

I'm surprised that Barricade hasn't really set in as a Black Prowl Repaint yet

Regardless of the price, it's interesting that the response to the look of these figures is fairly positive on here. It could just be that after 10 years people have finally acceptd the movie look, or just given up complaining about it. But yeah they do finally seem to have hit a sweet spot for me, at least in photos. 2007 had realistic vehicle modes and relatively easy and enjoyable transformations. They were also quite traditional in contruction despite appearances but in robot mode they were incredibly hit or miss ROTF was overly complicated which affected transformation and stability in both modes. Looked fairly awesome if you dont mind the movie look. DOTM, I seem to have done a complete 180 on this line. They do suffer from being smaller than previous toy, not helped by mechtech consuming a chunk of their volume, most obvious when you stand a 2007 voyager Prime next to DOTM Prime. But transformation is relatively fun and they look fairly good in both modes, though some like Prime are way to cartoony. AOE, I still haven't seen enough of the main line to have a proper opinion. From the look of things TLK has got the screen accuracy and fun transformation balance right.

Looking at the evolution of the Prime designs just as one example, they are getting more and more humanoid. The post-Evasion Mode Prime design in AoE was getting there, but the new one is even more. The toy seems to reflect that. That and the fact they've finally made a movie prime that doesn't have a massive cab shell on his back.

I got prime, barricade, and berserker (ie: the only new molds so far) The sculpting on these guys is mindblowing. And hasbro has really turned shellformers into an artform. Both optimus and berserker carry 98% of their alt modes hidden behind their legs and on their back, and are minimally intrusive. I mean, that's no fault of Hasbro's, as there is zero correlation between optimus's robot and vehicle modes now.
But man, the origami here is amazing.

They just collapsed it and folded it up, this time.

I got prime, barricade, and berserker (ie: the only new molds so far) Ah. Thanks for that. I was just looking at the Bumblebee thinking, is this one of the AoE repaints? I'm sure I've got this... Anyway, I bought a Slash in the £6 off £15 at Smyths. I have no idea why, because Beserker looked like a nice new mould. But I am doomed to repeatedly buy these AoE Dinobot moulds each time they come out. I think I like the fact that this time they're painted like they're in armour and not like they all need to be a primary colour to separate them. I almost bought Grim too, but surely he'll be cheaper at some point. £16.50 for a deluxe I could just about swallow.

aaand I really like him. Obviously I own but never opened the AoE Slash, but I'm much better at opening boxed figures than I am blister packs. Once a blister is open it's done with, toys can go back in boxes.
I don't think anyone could argue this version is £6 worth better than the other one, but the deco is much MUCH nicer for one of the dinos who didn't feature in all the premium repaint sets last time round. His robot mode is a little limited in terms of articulation - no elbows to speak of (well there are, but they barely move) and his legs have to stay pretty straight, but the dinosaur is top. The plastic has a pearlescent glow to it that the original doesn't have which does make it look metallic without needing chrome (actually better than the chromed up SDCC AoE dinos), and there is a fair bit of paint going on. Used cleverly in places too, like the throat where a slightly darker blue has been sprayed on and blended with the plastic just to give it a bit more definition.
There's also a lot more soft plastic in this that I'd realised - the whole tail is soft so it can look spikey without hurting anyone. His elbow feathers and the ones on his back are soft too. I'd be very happy with a set of these moulds done like this if they have shared colours to make them look like a team. From the look of it, Slug in wave two will go with this one very nicely.
I think the reality is that toys done with decos like this usually cost us even more - the Black Knight ones were at least £28 a throw over here. This is just as nice. I think Hasbro could probably justify a price rise for this kind of finish, it's just that the jump was too big.

That Primus paint must be gold then seeings its £110, £50 more than the original toy. But Cybertron Starscream was £70 more than the original.
