Don't remember Megatron featuring in Target: 2006 much either. I assumed the cover stars were random rather than story related anyway. The covers use images from a style guide produced several years ago for licencees, which is why the character selection is random as they are using a limited pool of images. You'll see these robot images on other media such as DVD's, T-shirt and general merch. -ralph i genuinely thought they'd redrawn them but now you mention it they do look familiar!

Same most of them on the box of RISK today.
It's a shame and a tad lazy, but what can you do?

The spine art on #5,6 is 1mmh higher than the other volumes, but you only notice when close up

They'll vary slightly all the time. If you look at the row of Judge Dredd spines I posted here: tmukhub.proboards.com/post/268193/threadYou can see they shift up and down. It's just down to the inaccuracy of the production process cutting and binding the books.

No sign of #5 in Edinburger. I wonder if stores have cut their orders already round here.

JPB has mentioned in response to it being brought up on Twitter that the deadline for finishing the work on the Perchance to Dream colouring isn't till May, and it'll be around V17ish. Looks like it was put back at some point (presumably because of the colour workload?), I wonder what 7 will actually be then?

My subscription package arrived today. Not sure what the point is of the tin plate, and hardly an icon image to use. Much better cover art to have used IMO.
But #6 (Escalation) is Volume #37, meaning we now have the first consecutive volumes now (36 & 37), and it looks like the IDW volumes may be coming out in order amongst all the other randoms. Of course, may just be coincidence. Too early to tell for sure.

Asdas here are still stocking issue 5.
I quite like the tin plate. Yes there are better covers but it still looks cool.

The underbase cover with the giant starscream. That's okay I guess, if not something we ever saw in the UK!

Oh it's not awful by any means (it's quite nice, just not sure what I'm supposed to do with it!), just doesn't strike me as an obvious choice to be given that sort of treatment. (And I don't think #6 goes on general sale till next week, so it's only subscribers getting copies for now. No Asda's I'm afraid )

Yeah in that sense its an odd choice, but it does seem really suitable for for the embossed tin plate thing.

(And I don't think #6 goes on general sale till next week, so it's only subscribers getting copies for now. No Ada's I'm afraid ) A free gift focussing on a US cover for a collection which is supposed to be the definitive UK collection strikes me once more as 'we dont give a sh*t', just like the covers which are stock Sunbow-eqsue artwork. Only clearly by the contents that Furman, Bove et al are putting together, SOMEONE cares. They are getting the tricky stuff right but messing up the really really easy stuff. That's what frustrates me. I mean sure it sounds a bit whiny fanboy, but who else is such a rigourously researched and recoloured definitive collection aimed at??

It might be that Furman is editing the content, but the general editing of the book and its gifts is being dome by someone less...a fan?
Mind, as (as talked about in the Classics UK thread) as Hachette are paying for the B&W colouring themselves they may be cutting corners on other aspects of the production to keep it within a typical partwork budget. Hence cheap and nasty covers, poor proof reading and other randomness.

Im sure issue 50s cover has been used elsewhere in recent years in which case it could just be the easiest option and in fairness is anyone really subscribing for the freebies? Surely the first 3 issues being free was the big draw besides the books themselves.

I still don't see why it makes sense to release volumes in random order rather than reading order if your intended audience is people who are reading the saga for the first time, rather than fans, but hey, if it makes business sense, it must make business sense.

Note following isn't true - "Did you hear they are going to start paying people wages not in month order so the first few months you get paid what you get paid 10 years after working there then one random month you get paid the first month wage."
It makes about the same sense has this random - ness but it can draw people in who don't have a certain era. If you don't know comic shops you'll not have much knowledge of IDW. Also those who have never read any IDW can read it at 3rd of the price. But we have been told subs get the collection always at £9.99 so could that mean the shop price is going up around #40?

I thought it might be a really big fridge magnet.
