I have to do that with Mrs P, or we miss trains. I did enjoy the concert, but it felt to a degree that it was something going on somewhere 'over there' as opposed to something I was part of, but that was down to the size of the venue. In Wembley Arena it would probably have been brilliant. As it was, because Lynne barely moved on stage, from the other end of the pitch it was hard at times to work out who he actually was. A concert I viewed almost totally using the big screens.
Linkin Park tomorrow night.

Yes that was my thought too. Even though it was only 20000 I did feel a long way from the stage. Thankfully we were right in the corner of the pitch at the end of the row so I stood up right away and was quickly surrounded by people dancing so the atmosphere was great. In other areas were people remain seated for large sections I imagine it was less fun.
My default comparison at any show is Springsteen, (in particular 60/70 something bands who have been around for longer than me) Lynnes standing so still was unexpected especially against such a crazy backdrop. He reminded me of Brian Wilson (who Im seeing in August) quite a bit in that respect. Thats a crazy though Brian Wilson and the E Street Band.
Linkin Park. I wonder how many Transformers songs will they play?

1. Iron Maiden - O2 Arena, London 27/5/17 2. Linkin Park - O2 Arena, London 3/7/17 3. Jeff Lynne's ELO - Wembley Stadium 24/6/17
Linkin Park brought their summer 2017 Euro festival set to the O2 in the absence of the chance to perform it in a muddy field elsewhere in the UK. With a stripped-back stage set and none of the bells and whistles of recent tours to match the bare bones nature of the new album, it was a long concert timed just five minutes shy of two hours. In that time it rolled through a mellow first half with slowed down and acapella/piano versions of some favourites (in contrast to the remixed/sped-up approach of the last tour) before building to the kind of Nu-Metal climax the crowd wanted, quite daringly with seven of the ten tracks off the controversial new One More Light album spread through the evening.
It was an exhausting affair to watch but was diverse enough to entertain the crowd. Both Transformers tracks were on offer, which is always a double whammy for me, but despite the effort I wouldn't rate it as the best LP concert I've seen. A little too much of the mellow new album halted to pace too frequently.

But gasp! Linkin Park have done three of the Transformers song! Let me think, uh, What I've Done, New Divide and Iridescent. I hope they played all three and you are not wrong To hear them all would be most pleasant!

It might actually be 'The Catalyst', but that's harder to rhyme. So I'll sit here and bide my time. Someone will be along and set us straight Until then I am happier to wait.

I'd forgotten Iridescent was in Dark of the Moon. I must make amends and rewatch that soon. This time, that tune they did skip, But played all three last UK trip.

I used to really like U2 But since Zooropa they've been a bit poo I prefered them post-modern and loud A time of which they don't seem too proud.

Spur of the moment decision; off to Let's Rock Southampton! for a day of 80s pop fun. Looking forward to seeing Belinda Carlisle, Howard Jones and The Human League among the twelve (twelve!) acts.

Twelve acts? Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth?

It's worth a place on... A place on... Well, to be honest a very hot dry field. Bit too much soul in this for my 80s synth pop leanings. Currently enduring Leee 'enlightenment' John. However, having seen Kid Creole I now see where Danny John Jules got the Cat from.
Howard Jones next. That'll be more me.
This is so outside my usual sphere it's quite bewildering.

you thinking of Manchester Andy? without checking dates I be tempted to join you at good charlotte! Did you end up getting a ticket? I've seen that William Shatner is at a convention in Manchester on the same day. Assuming I have more spare cash then than now I may be tempted to pop in. Who knows he may even perform a song. I can dream. Also I see The Killers are touring in November. Leeds on a Sunday. Dammit! That'll be more money spent.

For the Love of Scifi.
Shatners autograph or photos are both expensive but Im still quite tempted.
Also The Hoffs autograph on Guardians vol 2 soundtrack would be quite nice.

Mrs P is finding it very hard. He was her fave. It seems so odd, especially as it was only a few weeks ago we saw them live. They were about to start the second leg of the tour and released a new single yesterday.

Im not that invested in the band, I drifted away from them after the first album, but dammit I loved that first one. Still they were one of three or so bands from my teens/early twenties that I still wanted to see live.
Ive been busy catching bands from the 60s/70s/80s assuming I'd have time later to see Linkin Park, Good charlotte and Blink 182. Cant fault the logic.

It's done more than stun me. I'm shocked how much this has affected me. I can't quite process it.
I'm glad I saw them tho, especially doing all of Hybrid Theory.

No B*witched for me:( they were supposed to be on between 5 and 6. It got to 7pm and Id had enough of X Factor acts.
At least I heard Cleopatra say "comin atcha" as they left the stage as I was arriving. So not a total bust.

Brian Wilson Band last night.
A great show , but its getting painful to watch Brian on stage. Or maybe its always been a bit painful, last night was the closest Ive ever been to him. Either way his voice has all but gone now. 10 years ago when I saw Lucky Old Sun he could still perform most of the material with out too much support, 5 years ago at the last Beach Boys show he performed in, he pulled it off, but apparently had been dodgey on other shows. Now its not just higher notes that he cant make his performance is stilted, I was reminded of William shatners approach to singing at times.
I was in the front row despite being in the circle, because Sheffield City Hall has a really odd layout, but for something classed as a cheap seat I wasn't very impressed with it.
Still the band was amazing, Al Jardine somehow still sounds like a man half a century younger than he is and his son, Matt, provided the falsetto perfectly. Blondie Chaplin kept wandering on stage, stealing the show for a song or two then wandering off for another drink of something presumably highly alcoholic.
Still it gave me a chance to hear the full Pet Sounds album duiring the second half of the show and thats a truly impressive thing to hear live.
Also the support act Beat Root Revival were great. I now own three of their albums.

Gah! Fuck ticketmaster.
Signed up for verified fan to try getting Springsteen on Broaway tickets. Got an email this morning saying I had been selected and would receieve a code later on. I did not recieve a code. The tickets have been on sale for 45 minutes, so I am not getting tickets.
If I had not been selected that would be fine. If I was selected, got the code, but still was unable to buy tickets for the price I was wanting to pay, thats fine also. But being selected and then not getting the chance to buy the tickets is pissing me off.
Seems everyone outside of North America is in the same boat, not that makes me any happier.
