Never seen the Foo's. I keep hoping on a Download appearance, but apparently the festival is too 'Metal' for them. I've heard Pearl Jam give the same reason for not playing. Bah!
But anyway, on Monday I'm travelling to watch one of the Game Grumps live UK shows. Does that go in here as a gig, I wonder?

The only time I saw the Foo's was at the Milton Keynes Bowl in 2011, they were supported by Biffy, Jimmy eat World (which was worth the price of admission alone for me) and the lead singer from Supergrass' random covers band. It was amazing, but kinda spoiled them for me. Since then they've not had that kind of support or venue and the tickets have (I think) been more expensive so Ive kept passing.

1. Sumo Cyco - Devilskin - Eva Plays Dead 2. The Birthday Massacre - Lesbian Bed Death - Def Neon : Oh my gods. Best gigs of the year bookended by female fronted bands from Canada! Delightful spooky rock. You need to see them. Support rocked socks too! 3. Skindred - Raging Speedhorn 4. Ready Player Three 5. Download Festival 6. Tony Wright 7. Devin Townsend Project - Tesseract - Leprous 8. Dick Valentine - ? - Prime - Itty Bitty Committee 9. Avenged Sevenfold - Disturbed - In Flames

No hope of being able to attend this live, so the middle of the night webstream had to suffice. Excellent tribute concert for Chester Bennington:

I still can't quite bring myself to watch that.
Y'know, I thought I'd round out the year with a nice round ten. Ten gigs seen. But noooooooo, I've managed to add another two to the pile. I'm turning into the gig equivalent of Pinwig and unopened toys. (please tell me I've gotten the right Hubber there...!)
And what with Steel Panther, Skindred and Machine Head all looking interesting next year already...

I've already got Foo Fighters booked for next year. Really really hoping Weezer are supporting them like they are on the Australian tour.

Weezer are touring with The Pixies, aren't they? That'd be a tour worth seeing.

I've done very badly gigwise this year. I wonder if I can correct that.
Missed several I should have made the effort for.

Devin Townsend Project - Tesseract - Leprous 8. The Infusion - Zadkiel : I'm a tad biased in that The Infusions singer is a friend but for a gig in the back of a pub they were on fire. Sounded super good. They're a tricky band to describe, if you imagine Kate Bush fronting the Pixies then that's a starting point but nowhere near the full story... 9. Dick Valentine - ? - Prime - Itty Bitty Committee 10. Avenged Sevenfold - Disturbed - In Flames

I saw little Steven and the disciples of soul tonight at 02 academy Leeds and it was fantastic. for those of you who don't know Little Steven is Steve van zandt (or Bruce Springsteen's guitarist) and he played over 2 and a half hours without support was brill!!!

Bruce Springsteen has never been my cup of tea, but that sounds like it was a pretty good event, man. Value for money, at least!

What time did they start? Not seeing them is going to bug me. I had a family thing last year when they did a one off show in London. Thanks to an error in my wages had to skip the Leeds show and I dont think I can justify a trip to Liverpool tomorrow to see them, but the temptation is there.

Bruce Springsteen has never been my cup of tea, but that sounds like it was a pretty good event, man. Value for money, at least! Thats how I was for a long time. Besides Born in the USA (which just plugs in to the same part of my brain as transformers and other 80s things) I couldn't get in to most of Springsteens music. Then I saw he was playing locally and on an impulse bought a ticket because I had nothing better to do, I was somewhat enjoying The Rising which Id just got for my birthday. Also I really wanted to hear Born in the USA live (I didn't realise that that wasnt a certainty) and Im On Fire (which Im still waiting on 15 years later). I went to the show and suddenly I got it. I didnt know most of the music, but it didn't matter, it was impossible not to be happy and the buzz lasted for days after. This review pretty from last year pretty accurately sums up the experience link.

I really enjoyed the jaunt to Berlin I made two years back to see Maiden. They announced new tour dates today so I'm now pondering a May half term trip to Sweden to see them next year.

I cant make it to Good Charlotte in Manchester on the 2nd December so the ticket is going on Stubhub now, but if anyone here can make use of it let me know. Its like £30 something pounds. General Admission.

Heading back to hotel after seeing Biffy. Turned up 20 minutes in to their set so settled in to the back row. So so good. Venue was tiny, holds less than a thousand and I doubt it was full so back row also equalled about 10 from the front.

1. Warrior Soul - Molotov Souls - Whore No More : In at the death! Support acts were okay, I guess, but for nearly two hours Warrior Soul played like their lives depended on it. A fantastic back to basic raucous rock show that reminds you why music is so important. 2. Sumo Cyco - Devilskin - Eva Plays Dead 3. The Birthday Massacre - Lesbian Bed Death - Def Neon 3. Skindred - Raging Speedhorn 5. Ready Player Three 6. Download Festival 7. Tony Wright 8. Devin Townsend Project - Tesseract - Leprous 9. The Infusion - Zadkiel 10. Dick Valentine - ? - Prime - Itty Bitty Committee 11. Avenged Sevenfold - Disturbed - In Flames
So, one more planned gig to go this year.

Another not gig. Elf the musical. Pretty decent set of tunes, but George wendt (norm from cheers) make a cheers joke about 5 minutes walk from the real cheers bar has made my day.
Tomorrow, Christmas tree light turn on. Musical guests non other than Grammy winners All For One. Speechless.

Peeved today. Bruce Dickinson was signing his autobiography in a Waterstones close enough to me to get to, but work denied me the opportunity to get there. How many chances do you get to meet someone like that?

Twice, in my experience. I met him back when the Accident Of Birth album came out, and missed him in Nottingham earlier this year.
Your time will come.

I hope so! I'm gutted. Maiden are *the* metal band in my life, if that hasn't been made obvious already.
