A major protagonist trapped in a child's body? See comments made about Hot Rod and, at the opposite end of the spectrum, Kup when we did the 86 cars poll.
And yes, it is good!

Oh no, Martin. Gaiman Eternals is awful. The Kirby version is far superior.

Quite well into Phil's New Defenders Epic and rather disappointed in its change of direction. It has lost what made the team special (being a secret, informal alliance led by Dr Strange against supernatural/mystical menaces) and become just another officially recognised super-team, and a rather incompetent/dysfunctional one at that. With the Angel and Iceman on board, it's become the Champions!!! In the issue I just read, they even get asked by a member of the public what makes them different from the Avengers, to which the Beast answers that they shower more often. Seems like the writers aren't interested in telling classic Defenders-type stories any more. Iceman mini-series up next. Martin

Oh come on! What's wrong with it? There was a good bit at the end of issue #2 where he got his dad killed before he was born and so blinked out of existence. I didn't see that twist coming. But everything before that and after that was awful. Oh, except for the Star Destroyer on page 1 of issue #1. I looked forward to finding out what was going on there. But they never explained it. I think it's pish too Martin, but know it's hallowed ground for Burns.
There's an earlier solo Iceman story from Bizarre Adventures which is miles better as is his Hulk annual appearance with Angel.

Beauty & the Beast #1-2 are the best issues in this TPB so far.
This Defenders TPB really feels like it should be an X-book. Half the New Defenders are original X-Men members, and it has two four-issue mini-series about mutants (Iceman and Dazzler/Beast respectively).

Finished #3-4. Now that was a quality mini-series, head and shoulders above anything else in this Epic Collection. Really should have been in an X-Men TPB though.

Neither was an X-Man at the time, Defenders is the best place for it as Beast is a Member there when it was produced. Plus the Defenders needs some padding!
Can't stand those bl**dy gladiators here, or in New Mutants or Xtreme X-Men
Gargoyle LS in the next volume, never collected before.

Neither was an X-Man at the time, Defenders is the best place for it as Beast is a Member there when it was produced. But neither mini-series has anything to do with the Defenders team or saving the world, and everything to do with mutant/human tensions, so thematically they are X-stories not Defenders/Avengers stories. Finished the New Defenders Epic. The Defenders issues get a bit better towards the end, as the threats become more demonic/mystical again and they start wishing they still had Dr Strange with them, but the best in the book was definitely Beauty & the Beast. Low point was the Iceman mini.

Made it ten issues into the Spider-Man Alien Costume Saga before admitting defeat and skipping ahead to the key event issues. I'm afraid I've never been much of a Spider-Man reader. Martin
