The toys are the same so far, but they aren't the same toys in each range: Japan missing Landmine, Bombburst, Tailgate, Cindersaur, Outback, Novastar and Rodimus Unicronus thus far. All repaints/minor retools. Skrapnel's not been released there either: he's a rerun in the west but in Japan he was released in the Adventures line.
There's also the possibility that Takara might do something mad, possibly involving conventions or online exclusives down the line.
So I'm inclined to leave them as separate entities for now but perhaps look again when both lines are over.

If it's 95% the same, i don't think the outliers are enough of a difference to matter. Especially if those outliers are a few omissions (which more likely haven't been announced yet, over being meaningful omissions).
We're effectively having slightly different versions of the same conversation about the same toyline, in two different threads, with the only difference between them being the language on the packaging.
And after the lines are over, it really won't matter as both threads will effectively die off anyway.
I can't see how this time two different threads are serving a purpose.

I can't see how this time two different threads are serving a purpose. I can and, not to put to fine a point on it, I'm a moderator and, having consulted with some of my colleagues who support my view, it stays for now. As I said, we'll look again when the line has finished. It's far easier to merge than to separate and any experience gained here will help inform us as to if we treat Hasbro & Takara lines separately in future. |

The Hasbro thread seems to be where most of the discussion is happening. It's handy having the separate thread to keep abreast of how they are releasing stuff without clutter in the other thread.

BBTS is as easy cancelling a preorder as making one.
I *think* HLJ is fairly easy, because I think I've cancelled one from them before. I don't currently have any preorders open with them though, so I can't check.
