I'll wait for something more concrete before I believe the pretenders will be just be straight up copies of what hasbro is doing.

The news has completely thrown me. I really expected Takara to merge these into Legends & Unite Warriors. I suppose we might yet get some UW boxsets - there's no Dinobots here for a start, neither is there Starscream or Dreadwind......
Starscream & Dreadwind's absence is interesting.... I'v3 long been sure Dreadwind was going to be Buster in Japan: what if he's Buster AND Dreadwind? Similarly Blackwing and Hydra?
Jazz will be the first combiner limb that Takara have released by itself.
Can't see Rodimus being that different to the US version. I'd hope that Prime has blue hands but I think by the looks of it they're a solid unit with the arms so it would need paint. I'd like to see the red gone from the top of the trailer, but that'd take some re-engineering.
Primemasters: They're going by the Prime names. Looks like the symbols then, no faces :-(
Could be a much cheaper year for me next year.....
But, I've not seen their Dinobots or what they do with Starscream etc yet and I can see my doubling there. Need Dinobots in individual mode and Vulcanicus combined

I can see Dinobots being a box-set, which in some ways is slightly disappointing as I definitely don't want all of them but would quite like better decos on the ones I do (red Swoop please!).
Also, maybe we'll see a Buster / Hyrdra box set.
The Primemasters things is disappointing if true (but we are still short on information) - maybe the problem is that them being heads would make the associated gimmicks a bit weird but at the same time it's not worth engineering the gimmicks out. And in a line which might not have any Headmaster bodies, releasing the heads individually for compatibility with the previous line is also not quite right.

Hmmm I was fully expecting Takara to chrome or metallic paint the back of the primemaster bodies and sell them as Godmasters. Or as the pretender inner robot guys.
They didn't sell the basic wave separately with titans Return though

That is bizarre. If BBTS hadn't put up preorders if have said that was bobbins. Obviously the Prime trilogy doesn't mean anything to Takara, but why start a new line for something that clearly connects to the previous Legends figures?!
Still, this does at least add weight to the idea that the Deluxes aren't necessarily part of a specific combiner, cos those dinos are clearly coming in box and Jazz obviously isn't. Be interesting to see if they make a set out of the female bots somehow. Or the Decepticon planes.
Nine releases in one wave is a lot by recent standards too. Nothing about that makes sense.

BBTS has put up preorders based on rumor, and sketchy info in the past. So I'm still not looking too deeply into the names used.
I'm thinking the female bots may be a box set. And if they have to make up limbs to do it, Grand Galvatron says it wouldn't be the first time. I also imagine they may skip Inferno, which is why Jazz is alone, instead of trying to shoehorn a team based around Jazz and Inferno. Starscream, It's completely plausible they may take the UW Ghost Starscream and repaint it into Skywarp and Thundercracker as limbs. And finish it with either Hydra and Buster, or knock those two off into their own twopack, and finish it with Armada Thrust as G1 coneheads.

I like your thinking there.
Ooh. Sod Hasbro. I'm going Takara with Pottop just to see if Toph is right.

I, likewise, will be very surprised if this information is correct. They've got to be doing the Masterforce Pretenders. Haven't they..?

Not sure about the leaders, but unless they plan to make zero changes, that jazz is 100% the hasbro version, down to the MAGA.

Interesting. It’s surprising the differences seem far less pronounced than with Legends. Some of those could even just be down to lighting.
Optimus is also pictured with Micronus Prime instead of the Matrix core, but I assume that’ll not be the case (or he’ll come with both).

Just illustrating the Primes and Matrixes can be swapped, there's a Prime w Mtrix pic too and a Prime holding a Primemaster weapon

At $5 more than grabbing him at walmart, if Optimus had blue hands I'd be all over it instead.
Though, I'mma wait a bit longer. If it continues to look like Takara's versions are identical to Hasbro's, then I'm cancelling all my preorders.

I am so disapponted that they dont seem to be doing anything interesting with them given how crazy they went with Titans Return. Here's hoping there's more to come!!

But their craziness was the main draw. All those variants! Perhaps they didn't make enough money off of it..?

RFC discussing this this week suggested it could be because Hasbro have said they don't want Takara making their figures more appealing to the adult market and have requested the Takara releases are kept the same as their's. Not quite sure I agree with that, but there could be some truth in it. After all, we've got that upcoming movie Masterpiece getting a simultaneous release from Hasbro/Takara - that also suggests Hasbro trying to cut down on the people importing it.

Will be a bit of a shame if that is the case. Part of the fun has been Hasbro producing more affordable versions, with the option of a pricier, more premium figure in the Takara version if we were willing to stump up the extra cash.
Although with the way prices have been jumping up here, some of those Takara options don't look quite as pricey as they used too..

Does help explain WHY Takara's POTP is so similar and possibly why Hasbro went Blue Swoop.
