Huh-oh. Is this as bad as Big Phil not having watched Die Hard...?
I've never even heard of it.
It... it can't be as bad as Big Phil not having seen Die Hard... surely...?

What's the Princess Bride? One of the most wonderful films ever made, balancing warmth with witty deadpan humour. Solidly in my Top 20 films of all time, but doesn't always make my Top 10 list because Labyrinth is better, which makes TPB number two in the genre of non-cynical tongue-in-cheek fantasy films. I think I can forgive that if you've at least read the book I actually think I marginally prefer the book. Whilst I love the film, the books dedication to the framing conceit is wonderful - almost worth reading for the delightfully Goldman introduction alone. "Where did we leave the Albino's Wheelbarrow?" "Over the albino I think." Also - I still use the term ROUS to encompass anything from D&Ds Giant Space Hamsters, through GWs Skaven to The Highway Rat... Karl

I wish I could see what everyone else sees in the film but I would rather tear my own eyebrows off than sit through it again!

Karl The book is a work of genius, but I dont know if it lacks some of the films charm. Which I guess is largely down to the actors bringing the characters to life. The stream lining of the story probably helps to, having said that I would love to see a more direct adaptation of the books structure one day. And the missing scenes.

I didn't much like the spoof teaser chapter in the book for the non-existent sequel. I didn't either to be honest. I think that stretches the joke a bit too far, and that "Buttercups Baby" would have been best left as a mention in the introduction rather than extended to longer than it warranted. The "there is a sequel, but it isn't as good and would just disappoint everyone if it was translated, which I can't face doing anyway" works perfectly well as it is. Karl

Kevin Arnold is sick in bed, and Columbo comes over to read him a fairy tale, starring Criminal Minds, The Grand Nagus, Andre the Giant, Wonder Woman's other momma, and the Robin Hood whom can speak with an english accent (unlike other Robin Hoods).

There are sword fights, daring rescues, chivalry, pirates, betrayal, death, life, love and humour. And rodents of unusual size.
The film is clearly on a tight budget but has a certain charm to it.

Ralph is texting about an actor I've never heard of.
In the course of discovering who he was I am reminded I have never seen Highlander so thought I should say before he gets a chance to rush here to tell you.
