Toph and Pinwig have lost that loving feeling. Martin There's no tenderness, as before, in their fingertips... They're trying hard not to show it... (all together, now) Martin

Top Gun is good but it is the poor man's Hot Shots. True. If you've seen Hot Shots, Top Gun is somewhat redundant. Martin

Oddly, I found a copy of Airplane the other day while tidying. Freebie newspaper one in a card sleeve. That Hot Shots trailer has made me want to watch it this afternoon!

Airplane is sitting here in a Leslie Nielson boxset I bought when he died. But I'm pretty sure I saw it when younger.

The Last Starfighter.
Rectifying this right now. This is awesome! I love the truly awful attempts to rip off Star Wars that just end up looking like Buck Rogers.

I have a fondness for it. It is sadly overlooked by pop culture.

Agreed. Another one that gets overlooked that's really good is Enemy Mine

That is a very under rated film and the theme of it did help educate a young Ralph about useless hatred.

Yes! I knew those two films so well in my childhood, I was surprised when I found out others didn't!
The bit where the replacement Alex's face isn't ready yet always freaked me out though.

I haven't seen The Last Jedi (yet) I've never seen Caravan of Courage or Battle for Endor. I've not seen the Hobbit films - Lord of the Rings put me off. I have not seen the Ewok films. I'll wait for Disney to finish the trilogy. Anyone willing to admit to never having seen Farenheit 451, Dune or Zardoz? I cant say I have never seen them for certain, but I have not seen any whole in at least he last 20 years. And I'm assuming everyone has seen Excalibur? Nope. At least not that I am aware of. Anyone willing to admit to not having watched The Princess Bride? A Knights Tale is also a film I feel everyone should watch. If only because anything with Alan Tudyk in is worth watching.

I have not seen the Ewok films. I'll wait for Disney to finish the trilogy. Top 3 traumatisingly blood-thirsty Star Wars moments: 3. the execution of Order 66 2. the climactic scenes of Rogue One 1. the start of the second Ewoks movie You have to see them both!

Yes, the book would also be acceptable. But really you should have read the book and seen the film for maximum effect.

It's one of the few films I have seen which has no redeeming features. Everything about it is awful: acting, script, direction, lighting, soundscape etc: all flat and lifeless.
But if folk like it that is fine with me.

If it doesn't work for you that's fine.
Part of its 'flaws' are part of its charm really.

But it features Columbo!
I admit the budget on it must have been tiny. Thinking about it I imagine its what Game of Thrones would look like if it was made in the 80s on Doctor Whos budget at the time. But that is part of the charm.
