Phil has never seen Die Hard. WHAT? ?? Phil, fix this now! Fun fact - did you know that Die Hard was based on a book? And that book was a sequel to another book that was adapted into a Frank Sinatra film in the 60s. So as it was technically a sequel to that film, contractually, a 73 year old Frank Sinatra had to be offered the lead first.

I knew the book bit, I did not know hte contractual bit.
I have the boxset, 1-4 Im not crazy enough to deal with 5 again. Hopefully will get through them all over Christmas.
I feel like Im suffering from Hayfever, which makes no sense.

that would have been amazing! In fairness, in context of the times it isn't _that_ much odder than offering the role to Bruce Willis. I can imagine some raised eyebrows at "You want to cast the guy from Moonlighting as your lead? In an action film?" Karl

Phil has never seen Die Hard. PHIL HAS NEVER SEEN DIE HARD. PHIL HAS NEVER SEEN DIE HARD!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *shrug* fair do's. Maybe it doesn't interest Phil? I mean, there are a a lot of films in this world, and noone is going to be able to see all of them. In the end we choose to see the things we choose to see. After all, I haven't seen Gone with the Wind - it has never interested me enough to sit down and watch it - but I have seen Once Upon A Time In The Wild West. By contrast I suspect my sister has never even heard of the latter, but may well have seen the former. Karl

Maybe we should have a thread for films people assume you've seen, but actually you weren't interested.
Umm. I can offer Rambo. Never seen any of those.

Nah, I've not seen Rambo either, Seen Hot Shots Part Deux, and that'll do me. The first Rambo isn't what you'd think of as a Rambo film. It's more like a 'proper' film. Just like Rocky, really. The first was a 'proper' film and then the sequels were like bizarre parodies. WHAT ROCKY IV IS THE GREATEST FILM EVER MADE (Also has a Vince Dicola soundtrack)

The only Rocky film I've seen is his Horror Picture Show and it's amazing ... Oh man Phil not you too! The first Rocky film is a proper film and really good. It won three Oscars. Sylvester Stallone wrote it himself. Mindblowing, isn't it!! Rocky 2 is OKAY. It's very much a sequel. Rocky 3 has Rocky fight Hulk Hogan and Mr T. Rocky 4 has Rocky fight Dolph Lundgren as his robot maid watches at home. Score by Vince Dicola. Someone did the timings and a third of the film is montages. It ended the cold war. Rocky 5 is awful and didn't happen. Rocky Balboa is a decent 'final' film to make up for the horrible Rocky 5 Creed is a film that I've not seen yet.

I haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy. You don't surprise me. Please tell me you know who Jack Nicholson is though? I expect you all to receive a Burns/Turnbull combo mocking. I have had to endure these regularly since 2003 whenever a 'glaring' omission has been discovered. I know that their good sense of justice and fair play will operate here.

But but but I want to see them! I just haven't had chance. And I think that's an interesting distinction, isn't it chaps? What you haven't seen because you don't want to, and what you haven't seen but want to see. And yes I know who Jack Nicholson is.

went to see Star Wars last night, came home to find the missus watching Die Hard, she has never seen it before but loved it,
best quote was "I've heard people say yippee-key-yay m**********r but never understood it and now i do!"
Phil if my missus can watch it who prior to last nights viewing her favourite films were 50 shades, its a wonderful life and frozen, i think you're letting the side down!

Sly Stallone is one of those oddballs who is actually a really good actor, a great director, and a phenomenal writer... but he's only really remembered for stuff like Cliffhanger, and people's intentionally bad impressions.
