I thinkthe original Predator BD transfers have excessive noise reduction on them removing the film grain and making Arnold and Weathers look like they're made of plasticine? It was enough at the time for me to stick to my DVDs. Just imagine Last of the Summer Wine in HD For the first time in 4k - Nora Batty's stocking! Did anyone watch the 16mm remastered version of Last of the Summer Wine or One Foot in the Grave on Christmas Eve? Getting Sam Home is a 90 minute special originally broadcast on Dec 27, 1987. It's based upon an early Summer Wine book and features the final appearance of John Comer as Sid, the cafe owner. Comment on the plot below. {Spoiler}
It's a strange story for a Christmas special - the trio arrange for a dying man to see his girlfriend for one last night of passion and have to transfer his dead body back home in a rolled-up carpet without his wife discovering his absence. Not the festive story that you'd expect from the series, particularly on Christmas Eve. The previous and later festive stories are much more fun. |

Getting Sam Home was 1983. I didn't realise the repeat was a remaster, that's actually the next one for me to do on the DVDs I've been watching this Christmas so I'll look it up on iPlayer instead!
