Lots of people going "it's only a kids show" as if that somehow excuses low standards
Bee talking like that all the time is going to get really old really fast

So Bumblebee's back to no voice and talking in soundbites again. If he's the lead character that's going to get boring very quickly.
I see what they're doing. They're trying to match the pace and humour of the direction children's cartoons have gone in recent years. I guess we're just not the target audience. I'm fine with that, we can't expect to be.

Rubbish! There's plenty of fantastic children's cartoons that are high quality. No excuse for Transformers to be slumming it!

Transformers cartoons have been slumming it since RiD finished. Why change now? There are people out there who liked the Prime Wars stuff. Mad, crazy, people.

Stylistically, the only complaint I have is Windblade and TC's retractible wings. Overall, that's just a silly way to make cheap CG even cheaper. I've said elsewhere that I think the designs are generally over pretty nice. Especially bumblebee's, which seems to manage to capture the cuteness of his iconic look, while updating it to "badass musclecar." And unlike the rest of the designs, it's kinda new, on top of all that.
It's just everything else that turns me off.

I can see much potential, but there are things that just irk me. Poor animation, mismatched voices, fairly blah voice acting, Grimlock's mouth...
Like... I'm not saying Grimlock needs to sound exactly like Sunbow (i'd precer not), but that voice does not sound right out of that design. (Like... khary peyton's voice matched his Grimlock. Greg berger's voice matched his grimlock. Keith david's voice matches most grimlocks)

Still no UK dates - but guess it could be end of Nov to give the US time to get the first 6 out in 2 months

Ta for that Dezzeh. Now we can view this properly in HD on a TV, I've watched these first two episodes. I don't really know what to think yet. My mind wants to compare it to other series and work out where it fits in the heirarchy of the shows. Not necessarily the continuity, but the feel/tone.
The animation is okay, but visually it's very bright and barren. Looks cheaper than RiD, which looked cheaper than Prime. Small core cast, each new show the teams get smaller and smaller. No humans.
It's cherry picking ideas to create it's own continuity - the Ark leaves Cybertron looking for the movie all-spark, Bumble can't talk, Windblade is an IDW city speaker, we're in the desert wastelands of Prime, which adapted the original cartoon.
It's a big jumble that doesn't fit into anything, but if you can set that aside and look on it for what it is and what it's for, I guess it's okay. I think I'm missing a strong plot driver. RiD had Bee's team tracking down escaped cons to protect Earth, there was a purpose behind it all. So far we have 'explore random memories to find where the Ark is' in this show. However I am thankful it has an ongoing narrative behind it and each episode isn't a discrete story.

My god Bumblebee is beyond obnoxious.
If they want to do the movie Radio Clip instead of speaking thing, they A) Needed to cast a VA with far more range, and B) Need to be faaaar less specific. The things the "radio" says are way too spot on, and usually sound like his normal speaking voice. He comes off like a bad G1 junkion imitation.
I like Windblade, but I feel she's also miscast. Her voice just feels too bland for this show. The VA's not bad in and of herself. But I kinda feel like she'd be a better Arcee.

We get the UK comic next week - we'll be on #3 before we get the cartoon. I've heard that IDW might be doing series tie in - but that maybe mix up with the Bumblebee novel that's coming out

Watched the first two episodes of this with Charlotte this morning, which was interesting after binge-watching a load of RID this week before its scheduled disappearance from Netflix yesterday. She really enjoyed it! She prefers the Bumblebee here because she found RID Bumblebee "too serious", but it took me some time to explain the way he talks to her - not watching proper TV (because Netflix etc.) makes a lot of the references obscure to her. She's never seen a gameshow, for example.
She's a fan of Windblade and was happy to see her getting a lot of focus here, and also to see Slipstream, though she was disappointed that Slipstream is a baddie. Overall a thumbs-up from her.
Jury is still out from me; it's nicely stylised but not much happens and the action isn't very convincing. The mystery element is mildly intriguing, and makes for an unusual start. It feels like it could turn out ok.

The important thing really is whether the show lands with kids far more than if it lands with Us.

So it looks like UK 27/10/18 - so 2 each weekend or could they do 4 if keeping to 30 minutes block instead of the 15 min slot?

The couple I watched looked fine. Though I did stop after 2 or 3 episodes as it wasn't very good. But then at the end of the day it's not for me it's for kids and if they like it that is what counts in the end.
