The picture of Volvocanicus looks odd to me, darker colours.

Indeed. We are not short of Optimus Primes. One I would like to see though is one based purely on the original 82 toy design with modern articulation rather than a cartoon based toy or an overall 'reimagining'.

I bet its smaller than MP10 to better scale with Shockwave and Megatron and Grimlock, which will only cause Soundwave and Starscream to look more out of scale themselves.
So expect a new Soundwave and Starscream next.
I would be quite happy with a new Starscream to be fair. My least favourite of the first decade of MPs.

I'd read that previous reveal as meaning 'MP10 with new grill and shoulders to make it cartoon accurate'. Takara are on a heavy run of recycling old moulds at the moment - this to me feels like MP10 anime colours version with a couple of remoulded pieces.

Well... that... is... underwhelming. (The Prime, that is, not the guy in the speedos.) I know we only have the small photos, but that is a massive pile of "meh" from me. Sure, it's probably a little more cartoon-styled, but... eh.
I mean, I know I didn't see the need for MP-10 until I had him in hand. But by that point MP-01 had become oversized and didn't fit in with the line. This seems utterly superfluous. Unless there's extra features they've not announced yet...

I'd understand if it was a Powermaster Prime, but this doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table?

That does look nice, but it'll be interesting to see what its like when more final versions appear. MP10 is still on my list to get (I do have MP10V, and its really made me want the full sized version), and I don't know if this really ticks the same box for me.
Its interesting, but with Takara going so heavily in favour of the cartoon with their masterpieces, its really made me realise how much my memories are based around the toy versions.

Definitely Sunbow inspred, to its detriment in this case as the animation model's proportions were all out of whack.
