My first Aerialbot was Fireflight from the Weetabix promo, that's my vote. I believe my current Slingshot, Skydive and Air Raid are Martin's old ones.

Some amazing info there, Martin, thank you!
But guys, where's the Skydive love?! Where the actual freak is it?!?!
PROWL OF THE SKIES!!!!!
And he looks the most visually striking!

I am wavering between Skydive (Prowl of the skies) and Air Raid (Sideswipe of the skies).

They are both rubbish. Only Silverbolt is the logical choice.

But he had a personality! He was afraid of flying! Can you describe the personalities of the other Aerialbots without looking them up?
Also his toy was a concorde, which was super cool in the 80's!

Easy one this week. Have to vote for Slingshot - when I first see the toys, he looked like the 'little' one and I liked his colours and the jet mode. He was also the most memorable in the Aerialbot's introduction episode.

But he had a personality! He was afraid of flying! Can you describe the personalities of the other Aerialbots without looking them up? Firstly, yes! And if you can't, it's not their fault. Secondly, being afraid of flying is not Silverbolt's personality. If that's all that can be said about someone's personality, then they really haven't got a personality! Martin

Also, it was a little unimaginative of Uncle Bob (sorry, Bob!) to have two flying Autobots in the same year (Silverbolt and Broadside) being afraid of heights. A glitch in the Matrix, perhaps?

Slingshot was a bit of a bully/loudmouth/absolute prick but that was to hide his insecurities of pretty much being the weakest Aerialbot. So I'd say he has the best characterisation. In the cartoon he seemed to be played like a stereotypical school jock. But he is still a dick.

Hmm. This is a difficult one.
I've been torn between three different Aerialbots, all of whom have been contenders for different reasons.
Fireflight - turns into an F-4 Phantom II. When I was a young thing, growing up next to an RAF station, Phantom's were a major part of the background sight and sounds of my life. They were the backbone of the UK's air-defence system at the time, and as a result there were a fair number of them in service. With my home being right next to one of the main centres for maintenance work in the UK I didn't just see and hear them at the annual air show - a lot of F-4's came and went, and a lot of F-4 engines throttled up and down on test-rigs. As a result to throaty growl of their two Rolls-Royce engines was a common sound. As a result I have a long-standing love of the grumpy, angry-looking shape that is an F-4 and this predisposes me to like Fireflight.
Air Raid - turns into an F-15, and I rather like F-15. Solid, if a little bit matronly, they may not have been the glamour gals of the skies but they were dependable, reliable and got the job done. Air Raid's having an alt-mode of an F-15 strikes me as very sensible - good for disguise considering how many of the things there were around by the end of the 80s - and also an almost pointed "anything you can do, we can do better" to the Decepticon jets. His "hah! Watch me go!" personality is very much the "ace" stereotype - loud, boisterous and very sure of himself. To top things off his Torque rifle is kind of distinctive and actually kind of disturbing when you think about it. It basically reaches out and twists and tears at his enemies, not just shooting holes at them but very brutally mutilating them.
Skydive - turns into an F-16, a rather lovely looking aircraft in it's own right. Skydive is also a bit of an avid reader, and it is implied spends a fair amount of time reading up on military aviation as it affects his species. In that latter regard not like myself at that point in time. Stated to be able to match most things in the air (Jetfire's going to be able to out-pace him, but not out-fly him for example), and to be honest that "within the limits of his design" isn't really that restricting. He can certainly follow any manouver the original Decepticon jets can pull, for example. He's also the "'bot with the plan" amongst the Aerialbots - he may not be the leader but he'll be the one calling the moves it would seem.
Hmmm. I think Fireflight and and Skydive nose ahead of Air Raid just slightly. Fireflight turns into one of my all-time favourite jet aircraft. Skydive I can identify with more than most Transformers - we shared some personality quirks. He is also the planner and the crafter of tactics for the team...
I think that after much consideration I am going to have to give this one to Skydive, by a hairs-breadth.

kayevcee : Phil needs the G1 Aerialbots! They're the only G1 combiner team I have no version of. Make it so for 2019 please! I think we have like a dozen Superions this year. It feels that way anyway. Is that mode like Motormaster where the pre-transformers version had a trigger to launch the limb robots? I have a very G2 looking KO Silverbolt from the mid to late 90s ( with a mixed set of combiner limbs) that has the spring included, its pretty cool. I dont have a strong attachment to any of them. My brother and cousin both got the giftset which was cool. But it meant I had access to all five equally from the same point so I never even had just one figure to play with or one last figure to find. They were just there. Airraid I gues was the one that looked coolest to me though.

Everyone needs to vote for Slingshot! As a white jet with blue & red bits (and an orange cockpit) he saves you spending money on a Blitzwing toy!
