One day to go and the Autobot jet that looks like a Decepticon is winning! I voted for air raid because he has cat ears

You've all provided very compelling reasons as to why I should vote for one of the smaller planes, and that's exactly why I voted for Silverbolt. Not entirely sure why, but he's the jet that stood out for me - maybe I'm just biased towards leaders, I don't know (the next three weeks will show). Also he has a fear of heights, which amuses me in a jet (and also I can empathise with) and he has luscious, very kissable lips in the cartoon (which I can also empathise with). So who else could it be?

Vote Skydive, Prowl of the skies, avenger of Wheeljack against imaginary Predacons and polar bears, and the only Aerialbot to get his own cover (I have no idea if that's true but it might be)! Martin

I'll also add here that Skydive was also one of the first Autobots to kickstart Generation 2. And while his friends died, he survived!

How does he look like a Decepticon? -Ralph Jet mode is the spit of the strike planes. Can't remember what model - F-15? ..... Karl! Yes F-15. A disguise mode shared by both numerous Autobots and Decepticons as it was a common Earth jet of the time. Note: Autobots were not emulating Decepticons. Note: Autobots can be jets too.

Now we're talking!
This is tough. I liked most of the Aerialbots as a kid, particularly Slingshot and Air Raid. And those are the two I'm leaning towards here. But I didn't have a clear favourite the way I did with some of the other Special Teams. Hmmm...

He got Fort Max killed. DEATH TO SKYDIVE! No! That would dishonour Fort Max's sacrifice. Before this poll closes, we need to talk about MINI-JETS. I refer you all to the final sentence of step 1 of the instructions of the four smaller Aerialbots. What does this mean? I always assumed this meant the mini-jet could be launched as an independent drone, for unspecified purposes. Martin

He was probably waiting until the poll was over so it wouldn't swerve people to Silverbolt. He is fair like that.

Good lord. The Special Teams really are special aren't they? So many more features and functions than just forming a gestalt. The Metroplex armour bit is mad enough, but there's so much more!

Isn't it because of the 'Mini-Jets' that Superion is (lazily) drawn with normal block legs & arms with jets just attached to them?

I would've voted Superion here if he was an option. Such a great design. If blocky.

The opportunity to vote for Superion against his like will follow in 22 days time. We have three more teams to get through first.
If I offered the combiner in with the team everyone would vote for them because it's an entire team in one and not just one toy!

If I offered the combiner in with the team everyone would vote for them because it's an entire team in one and not just one toy! And you'd get all sorts of strange results, like Shockwave being better than Devastator, but Devastator being better than any one of Shockwave, Jetfire or Blaster. Martin

Also PHIL I always thought of that little black car dude that came with Motormaster as his own guy he should be on the poll too.
I remember collecting these, Weetabix set me off. I saved up for so long for Motormaster but nearly cracked and got Sunstreaker instead at the last minute!!

The little black car dude is called Roller on the instructions. When scout cars go bad! Or maybe it nicked Roller's name after defeating him in combat, like Swoop and Divebomb. botchthecrab.com/archive/instructions/decepticon/1986/instr_motormaster.jpgAre Dead End and Superion the first TFs to have mouths on their faces as toys but no mouths in the US comics and cartoons? (They had a mouth in the early UK promo stories but not the later ones that worked off the US model sheets.) What's with the spikes coming out of the side of Wildrider's head in the stories? Does anyone remember the Stunticons doing any stunts? I don't. I'm voting Motormaster, 'cos unlike Silverbolt he was a really good toy. As a robot he should be the size of Powermaster Prime, as the cab only becomes his feet. The small Stunticons' battle vehicle modes are really unimaginative compared to the Constructicons. At least Drag Strip can attach his small gun as well in car mode. Martin

Motormaster - no contest. He was the one toy I wanted from this catalogue - sorry 'Free Comic' the moment I saw it. He also took me ages to find in the shops, so the wait made it even more satisfying. He is still one of my favourite toys to this day and is also still on display. I love his transformation scheme and you know exactly 'where the trailer went.' Just a shame he couldn't store his Roller in it. I also shun any Motormaster that is just repaint of Optimus Primes cab - Motormaster is the whole trucking truck!

Also PHIL I always thought of that little black car dude that came with Motormaster as his own guy he should be on the poll too. While Roller car, no robot mode and all, would surely storm the poll if included he is, like Optimus Prime's Roller & Combat Deck and the city toy pack ins this year & next, just part of the larger toy.

I also shun any Motormaster that is just repaint of Optimus Primes cab - Motormaster is the whole trucking truck! What Matt said at the end there. I'm not the hugest Motormaser fan - robot is a bit blocky, especially the tops of the arms and head, which are at the same height, and the base mode has cab halves stuck on the ends of it's wall. BUT what it does have going for it is it's use of the whole vehicle in all modes. The repainted/remoulded Op cab - when did that come in? Classics? - needs to go away and be left to Nemesis Prime.
