Week 23: What is the best Stunticon on the UK Special Teams catalogue? Same caveat as last week: these toys, CARS, should have been the Autobot combiner. However in this case you can almost see which Autobots these might have been given the vehicles used! I like all 4 of the cars here, but they all follow the same scheme. For sentimental reasons I think Dragstrip wins it: he was the only one I had for years and years!

I wanted to go for Dead End for Sunbow nostalgia, but ultimately, Motor Master was fantastic and I needed another truck to fight Prime as a kid. He was the guy.

Drag strip. He has the top of the car for his chest instead of just the underside like so many other car Transformers.

People have often wondered what would happen if Motormaster separated and lost his trailer. The answer is that it would be the trailer that has lost the cab - he would just be a robot with no feet.

It's certainly common for Special Team cars and other smaller toys to have underside chests but I wouldn't say there was that many....
Bonnet on the chest, either flat (Sideswipe) or sticking out (Prowl/Jazz) happens a lot, as does car roof (Mirage, Sunstreaker, Wheeljack, Tracks)
The only immediate predecessors I can think of are the Minibots.

Right, come on then. Unlike the Aerialbots I actually have the Stunticons, so what amazing and previously unrevealed secrets do these figures hold? What can they do that I don't know about?

Drag Strip. Weetabix and F1. I'm never not going to vote that!

I had Motormaster and Dragstrip as a child and loved them both but the latter was one of my favourite toys. I loved how it had a base mode and both the main robot and Roller subbed as 'evil Optimus Prime' in my collection. Many years ago I was able to get a great condition Motormaster from Phil but I am now reminded that I do not have any of the accessories or Roller!
Motormaster wins because you can launch cars from the base. Case closed!

I do like Dead End's personality though.

Yes I love Deadend. Very complex character.
I almost instinctively voted 'Motor Master' because he is such a great toy. But, and please don't groan at me too much, the scale thing bothers me. In G1, the toy could never properly fight Optimus Prime! Robot mode was ok, but in truck mode, it was a joke! And and and I just can't stand the confusion in my mind when I try to picture them fighting in real life! (Combiner Wars sorted that all out though).
So, as he doens't have any votes yet, and as he was my first Stunticon, and as he actually does look really good, and as he is a brilliant character, I'm voting for-
DEAD END!
STUNTICONS RULE!

I've always like your Special Teams theories, Big Phil, as you know, but I cannot imagine a world without the STUNTICONS! I think they'd have worked well as Autobots. Several characters speak for themselves. Stick some roof lights on one of them.... But I genuinely think they're better off as evil cars. That is such a fun twist on the Stuticons. Evil transforming cars! (good jets just aren't half as interesting somehow...) The Protectobots, in a way, work much better as G1 Autobots.

Just for the record, Phil is 100% wrong on the old stunticons as Autobots debate

I think they work better as Decepticons. That's the whole point - give each side the vehicle type they don't have. If Motormaster was an Autobot he'd just be an inferior Prime. As a con he's got the built in inferiority complex. And the Autobots really needed an aerial team.

I've always like your Special Teams theories, Big Phil Don't encourage him. Wildrider's function makes him the Decepticon with the greatest self-awareness in terms of being one of the bad guys. In the real world, very few terrorists would call themselves terrorists. Martin

Unsurprisingly, Motormaster is the strongest and has the highest endurance, but is also the slowest and least skilful. Breakdown and Drag Strip are the most intelligent. Breakdown is second-in-command. They're all really brave.

I love the dynamic that the Stunticons have. One gets the impression that none of them like eachother very much (with Deadend on the outside not really caring one way or another), with Motor Master actually hated by the other four. But they all united, figuratively and literally, in their hatred of the Autobots.
Motor Master is obsessed with destroying Optimus Prime. He's a nasty, impatient, power-mad, brutal warmonger.
Dead End is the most complex. Brave and a useful warrior (with his radar ability), but not only fatalistic, but also vane! A fascinating mix.
Breakdown, although fairly smart for a Stunticon, seems to suffer quite severe and irrational mental health problems. But somehow manages to be a good scout.
Dragstrip is driven by an intense and overpowering competitiveness, but what drives him isn't clear.
And Wildrider appears to be simply nuts. Craving chaos and destruction.
Then there's Menasor. Although thick as two short titanium beams, he seems a fairly successful and powerful physical merging.

Drag Strip, it was one of the earliest TF toys I got, and not from Weetabix.
Got the other limbs when they did the Classics line, but didn't get Motormaster until later from a "collector" shop. My Menasor head doesn't have the eyes coloured in [whole face is silver] so it looks like he's asleep.

Wildrider was the only Stunticon I had as a kid. However, unlike the Arielbots from last week, I have a strong memory of covetting Motormaster. The idea of an evil black Optimus-esque truck was an easy sell (and has been ever since), and even if I do remember being vaguely disappointed when I discovere he wasn't actually an evil Optimus, I still love the toy.
I eventually got one years ago (I really should get a complete set of G1 Stunticons at somepoint) and he didn't disappoint at all. I love the weirdly blocky robot mode, and the fact he's got the base mode is another great factor when sitting fidgetting with him.
Plus he combines! Great wee toy.

WILDRIDER FOR ME! AHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!
Just loved his colour scheme, vehicle mode and stocky arms.
Was inspired by Weetabix to try and get them all after Drag Strip. Wildrider was as far as I got. Think I might still have that original Drag Strip somewhere. Loved he could have all his guns on his vehicle mode though. Even if his fist itself couldn't hold the hand gun.

One of my earliest Transformers memories is getting Drag Strip through the Weetabix offer - I couldn't chose anyone else here!
Motormaster is a great toy though, and Dead End has some of the best tech specs for any character.
