This gave me pause for thought. I'm sure this has been done elsewhere, but I took a photo of the screen when Bob Budianski put up his original hand-written Tech Spec table at TFN last year, and combined with the might of Phil's BBCode tablising macro we can see that conclusively, Skywarp has Starcream's original tech specs: | Str | Int | Spd | End | Rnk | Cou | Fir | Ski | Tot | Starscream (BB original) | 7 | 9 | 10 | 7 | 9 | 9 | 8 | 8 | 67 | Skywarp (Box Tech Spec) | 7 | 9 | 10 | 7 | 9 | 9 | 8 | 8 | 67 | Skywarp (BB original) | 7 | 4 | 9 | 7 | 5 | 8 | 7 | 7 | 54 | Thundercracker (Box Tech Spec) | 7 | 4 | 9 | 7 | 5 | 8 | 7 | 7 | 54 | Thundercracker (BB original) | 7 | 7 | 9 | 7 | 5 | 5 | 8 | 7 | 55 | Starscream (Box Tech Spec) | 7 | 7 | 9 | 7 | 5 | 8 | 7 | 7 | 57 |
So, does that mean that Starscream was originally intended to be the sinister black and purple? So, Skywarp got Starscream's, Thundercracker got... no, hang on... Skywarp surely should have the Intelligence of 4, Starscream the rank of 9... errr....

Ahhh right, ok, so Skywarp got Starscream's, Starscream got Thundercracker's, and Thundercracker got Skywarp's.
Right?

The tech spec numbers Budianski wrote for Starscream ended up being given to Skywarp. The ones he wrote for Skywarp ended up being given to Thundercracker. The ones he wrote for Thundercracker ended up being given to Starscream.
However there is the small additional matter of Thundercracker's original numbers being altered slightly before appearing on Starscream's box, which is a change I'd suggest was made before the mix up to sit Thundercracker a little better in the overall hierarchy. Looks like Skywarp was always supposed to be the dunce.

Thundercracker.
If we were going purely on jet mode I'd say Skywarp, but I think he looks less good in robot mode than TC. It's close, though!

Skywarp leading, but he could still be caught!
Due to be travelling early tomorrow, forgive me if the new poll doesn't go up first thing.

Skywarp cannot be caught, he will just teleport away.

Teleporting is such a great thing to be able to do in a dogfight.

Depends on whether or not ones momentum is conserved or not in the process. I can see some downsides to having ones momentum conserved coming out of a teleport... :-)

Oh indeed - as long as you are smart enough to pick a good spot to teleport to then it is an absolutely fantastic edge to have. There are a few quite horrible things I can think of to do offensively as well as defensively with teleportation. (Being able to jump back up from the bottom of a dive has quite a few applications - instead of trading height for speed you could effectively get a refund on the height...which is quite nice when the art of close combat maneuvering is all about trying to hold onto energy at all costs. It also allows for some really nasty amnbushes if you don't need to see where you are teleporting to - you can be masked behind a terrain feature whilst your ally/patsy plays bait, and then *bam* you are right there making your initial pass before they can react).
I just think that in Skywarp's hands I can imagine him having some close calls when he forgets quite how fast he is going when he 'ports in to make a surprise attack on a ground target... He may have a habit of making an impromptu tree-branch collection... :-)

As for winning the war, he can probably only safely teleport where he can see it's safe to go, and has limited range, so he can only do so much. Martin

Optimus.
Great main figure and a little base play set. Great value and wouldn’t look out of place on toy shelves even now.

Although Optimus probably has the most play value,I voted Soundwave as he was the one I wanted out of the two back in the day. Interaction with the Spy Cassettes (although I guess Optimus could also do the same with the Cars) and a much nicer sturdier robot than the other two. And he could clip on your belt and store his weapons. Also Prime may have come with a massive trailer that opens into an armed battle station as well as Roller but Soundwave came with Buzzsaw. Megatron is also a very unique toy, so all three have great things going for them - I can see this being a fun poll.
