Phil tried to prove he is right by willfully mangling a perfectly fine Bonecrusher on the call yesterday. I was appalled. I demonstrated what a bad toy it is and how it doesn't hold together if you try to use the gimmick in robot mode. Look at his missile: tfu.info/1997/Maximal/Bonecrusher/bonecrusher.htmplain, ordinary, nowhere to store it other than in the launcher. Whereas Cybershark.... tfu.info/1997/Maximal/Cybershark/cybershark.htmTWO missiles for his launcher, with specialist storage in his backpack, and each missile has some lovely shark's head detailing on it. And that's before we get to the whole Shark's head being a third missile which doubles as a hammer/shield..... and the main missile which can be used as staves. And he is the only one of the five new moulds in 1997 which have proper hands that can hold anything!

I was stuck between voting between Cybershark and Bonecrusher. Bonecrusher wins because I like the way his robot mode incorperates the shoulder pieces of the animal fur. Also love the action feature. But a massive point is that he is one of the few first Transformers to have proper sculpted hands that aren't just a cube with a hole in them. He also holds the record of being the only Transformer toy I saw in the plastic at the same time I discovered it even existed whilst going to the toilet. And this is a true story. I was at a friends house and for some reason, there was a carded Bonecrusher on the cistern.

Well, bathroom hygiene is important, so they were clearly just making sure they kept the wash-bison clean.

It's the moment you've all be waiting for, it's Dried Frog Pill Time! Is Jetstorm meant to be an upgraded Waspinator? Fairly similar forms, the tail is the major difference. Colours completely different...... until you put Jetstorm up against Transmetal Waspinator: Is Jetstorm the missing link between original and TM Waspinator?

One of the weaker periods for Beast Wars. None of them are bad as such, but yikes there are some odd choices going on here.
I'd completely forgotten Manterror existed and Im not 100% sure if I have one. Almost certain I do but its so completley gone from my mind not having one would explain much.
Cant forget Retrax though. I was weirdly obbsessed by him for a while and again after I got an incomplete Powerhug back around 2008.
Er Jetstorm I guess, though Manterrors bug mode is great.

It's the moment you've all be waiting for, it's Dried Frog Pill Time! Is Jetstorm meant to be an upgraded Waspinator? Eh, I mean... maybe? I'd very much doubt it, though. They wouldn't have been far enough into the show (or at all?) by this point to have any idea as to Waspinator's popularity, so it seems unlikely. More likely that it's just the same designer with similar ideas, same as how, say, the original Porsche and Datsun toys could be said to be nearly the same due to their similar transformation schemes. Whatever the case, Jetstorm for me for this one. Not because he may or may not be Waspinator, but because he just looks the nicest.

How can Waspinator turn into a dragonfly? He would have to change his name to Dragonflyinator. Nope.
I knew this week was coming and cannot decide aa I love all three of these.
Manterror has a wonderful transformation and flying mantis is quite creepy.
Retrax can actually roll into a ball which is genius and the robot just wants cuddles.
Jetstorm must hold the record for gimmicks at a Deluxe scale - he could sign up for the Aquaspeeders (shoots water) Turbomasters (firing missiles) and the Trigger bots (flip out guns). Plus the then new novelty of poseability and having an organic beast mode.
Will be a while until I vote this week.

TM Waspinator's colours have always bothered me and I was amazed to see how close they were to Jetstorm's the other week. There is probably nothing in it but it is a very odd coincidence

Jetstorm, because he is the gimmick king and pulls them off without them negatively impacting the rest of the toy (Manterror, Retrax, Bonecrusher)

I've got all three of these. Jetstorm is the best I think, based on play features and having decent robot and dragonfly modes. Manterror is a bit unbalanced and Retrax is, er, well Retrax is silly.
