Definitely. And much less of a structural upheaval, I assume..?

Yes. Stair rails will need to come off, so I won't be able to walk upstairs even when I am able to. It may protrude into hall a bit.
Book case at top of stairs will need to move.

Drugs tweaked yesterday: not 100% happy as a stable regime has lost two parts, one of which they're intending to replace with something I was on previous 20ish years ago that didn't work. It also leaves me with no drugs to take at bedtime.
Felt odd all day, can't tell if that's weather, illness or drugs. But it's an odd oddness and I'm inclined to say drugs.
Also collected new leg braces! They fit - yay - at the third attempt. Walking is odd, it's like I have heels on. Right ankle wasn't happy. felt like it was moving around quite a bit and wasn't supported. Raised concerns with Orthotists so follow up scheduled for 1 month. Saw my physio on my way out the building and told her I wasn't 100% sure about them.

In some serious physical difficulty tonight and could do with some advice:
Had new leg braces on quite a bit today and was doing well with them till we got down to Richmond tonight when it suddenly felt like razors down the outer edge of both feet. When I stripped my braces and bandages off my left foot has what looks like a burst blister, my right .... possibly similar but there's an inch square patch of bare skin. Both bandages had blood on them, not a good sign.
So.....
what's the best treatment for this sort of injury? Preferably one that gets me mobile again with the minimum of discomfort?

Oh dear. Sounds like some nasty friction type blister/skin irritations. There is no quick treatment, the skin must heal. All you could do is dress the injuries substantially, to act as a barrier against further damage. It must be because the braces are new...?

I'd noticed a contact point on the sides of my ankle that protrude but nothing lower down till this evening.

That's how it goes with with skin friction injuries. Skin is tough. It holds out for so long and then...
Just try to pad out the injured areas. Like wearing extra socks with a bad pair of walking boots. But let the injury air, let it breathe. It needs to dry out and scab. Obviously keep it clean.

NEVER had anything like this on my feet before.
Just found a friction sore on the inside of the top of my upper leg from the strap too.

I can drive REALLY FUCKING FAST too...
Unusual it's come on this bad, Phil. Are these new braces a significantly different design/construction somehow? Are you... dragging a dead body behind you, or a large bag of swag? Thus causing an unusual walking pattern or gait...?

Unusual it's come on this bad, Phil. Are these new braces a significantly different design/construction somehow? Are you... dragging a dead body behind you, or a large bag of swag? Thus causing an unusual walking pattern or gait...? It was not me, I was not there, I did not do the blagging. Yes, the design of the current braces is different. I'm now sporting an inch plus heel on each foot, with a slant on the foot side to side to try to correct some of the deformities that have developed. This is my third go at getting in the new leg braces, first two tries they didn't make it out the orthotist's office cos the firm that cast them made such a pigs of it. This time I was able to get them on but they felt very odd, very wobbly round the ankle. That has improved, and was helped today by putting extra padding round the lower leg. New braces had relieved some real pain down the outer edge of the foot but were giving me some grief in the ankle. Effectively they are my first new pair in eight years. I had a set done four years back and never wore them as a pair because right brace was doing odd things to my foot making it difficult to walk. Left was fine and when my eight year old left broke last Nov (same day Mum broke leg) I swapped them over no problem. Was fine on way up to Mum, had felt odd walking out but just .... odd. Then we got off bus and the real pain started. I took the braces off to walk round Sainsburies.

Most doctors wing it when it comes to prescribing for long term conditions (in terms of reviewing what was tried before). If you know better in such cases you should definitely speak up!

Phew, busy morning.
Seen Physio, who's got me an emergency Orthotics appt tmw afternoon. Some extra padding and heating/remoulding *should* sort most of the problem. She also looked at the wounds while I was there to see where the braces had been rubbing and is happy that they're healing OK.
Orthotics appt may delay, or even cancel, this week's planned London trip with J. Unfortunately he's got something in the diary for Friday PM which prevents us coming back later.
Shoes, which I knew needed replacing, have contributed to foot problems so the trip to Blaylocks has leapt up the priority list.
Felt off most of the morning, the "slack muscles in the face" feeling with accompanying speech problems. Not great. Been getting it a bit on and off recently, as well as an increase in minor spasms & involuntary vocalisation - I sort of half start a word. This probably the drugs changes really kicking in. Change review in diary for a week Tues.
And now I just want to go back to bed to sleep!
