I don't think so. The Siege stuff is to the right of it. This looks like a section to he left of the stand for LG-EX with Big Powered underneath and whatever this is, plus a deluxe bonus figure, to the right. The size of it means it's definitely leaderish, but the shape of chest, which actually looks like God Bomber's front to my eye, I think rules out it being the new Leader Op whose sloped windows are obscured in super mode. Oh that Star Convoy looks so good I capsized. Which was unfortunate. But that looks really nice. Especially if Orion Pax has indeed been re-molded into a G1-esque Optimus - because then you can use him with PottoP Prime for a proper Russian stacking Optimus. I will certainly be getting this. The big question right now then is: Which of the Siege Micromasters will they re-use for Hot Rod and Sparkplug? The weirdest thing about this is that I’m much more excited about these than any of the Masterpiece reveals. Which suggests more that the “Masterpiece” title may be misapplied... |

Got my POTP Leader Op out and TF'd it into robot mode. Two things.... The first is it's blindingly obvious the inner robot is now a smaller Op which is a very good thing. Optimus Prime evolves to become Star Convoy, ala the Return of Convoy catalogue. They've done just enough to the big robot to make it look like Star Convoy. BUT, and it is a big BUT, I can't see how that's going to TF into a long nosed Star Convoy truck. The best I can see this is in vehicle mode is having a much better looking 1984 Op Cab..... and although that's an improvement on POTP Leader Op, It's not Star Convoy!    |

I was wondering if the 'Orion' part of Star Convoy would be Hot Rodimus? Micromaster would be better. I also hope they keep the look of his original truck mode.

Everyone let down by star convoy's vehicle, I don't think that mold could be physically functional if they'd changed the cab bot into a more accurate longnose truck.

FUCKING SILHOUETTES! That is all. For now. This is the fun kind. The kind that we actually don't know what's coming, thus speculation and curiosity. Fair point. It's just a knee-jerk reflex for me now. Also I was poked, so you know. Anyway. Yes, I am, as the kids say, disappoint. Both of Star Convoy's robot modes are great (even if they could have perhaps Action Master-up-ed the smaller robot, but that's what Reprolabels is for, I guess), but the truck mode is such a disappointment. I guess if this is for the Japanese market (is it?) then that would make some sense given the obsessive adherence to proper G1. And having smaller G1-accurate Prime turn into the G1-accurate(ish) truck mode makes sense, since the only divergence happens when they combine, and that's fine. But personally, I'd have liked at the very least some colour changes, or even some mild remolding to homage the original Star Convoy vehicle mode a bit better. As Toph points out, a true long-nosed cab would've broken the mold's functionality (without significant reworking, anyway), but *something* would've been nice. But ah well, they decided to take a different route. |
