Useful, but for our purposes not 100% correct, thanks to the tendency of toys to turn up in the UK slightly later and our natural suspicion that anything found in Decemberpossibly counts as a next year's toy. All of Power of the Primes counts, all of Studio Series, all of Cyberverse

How much of Titans Return? *technically* Chaos on Velocitron because it got a UK release this year. The TFWiki list is missing a number of exclusives too!

Can't really do the individual categories, as I haven't bought that much. And I also can't remember what I've bought when. But-
Best toys:
POTP Terrorcons (especially the 4 deluxes)
Siege Hound & Sideswipe
Most looking forward to:
Siege PROWL! And the rest of Siege, including....
OMEGA SUPREME.

All of Power of the Primes counts, all of Studio Series, all of Cyberverse Siege deluxes won't make it out in my area before 2019, but that doesn't stop them from being 2018 releases. And yeah, the list isn't 100% accurate (it lists the potp duocon as 2017, when they certainly came out this year for example), but it's certainly better than nothing.

Power of the PrimesPrimemaster: Metalhawk Metalhawk or Cloudburst had the best weapons modes, the Decepticons weapons modes were rubbish. But they tended to have the best shell modes, Bludgeon especially. I mourn the loss of the last 4 shells. Not 100% sure thy got these quite right. I think the size was dead on: any larger ad you need to articulate the shells more resulting in very little increase in storage space for the TF within. The Inner figures were OK, what they turned into was the problem. Never got on board with the Primemaster quasi mystic idea: a traditional Powermaster or even better a Titanmaster of the original inner robot head would work better. Legend: Tailgate. I think. Legends had an odd year: 2 new car moulds. 2 new Duocon half moulds. 1 new beast mould (5 new moulds total) 2 repaints from with the line 1 repaint of a TR toy 1 rerelease The cars were great, the duocons were OK.... until you put them alongside the Siege Flywheels. Good repaints, though Outback needed a gun and without the Titanmaster thing Brawn had going he somehow wasn't as good. Deluxe: BLOT!!!!! Superb. Rippersnapper is amazing too and both beat the Deluxe Dinobots who are all fab. Some good stuff for the deluxes which helps counter Jazz, whom wasn't quite so great, and the p!$$poor combining of the Powermaster jets. Voyager: Tough one. Voyagers haven't had a great year. Grimlock's robot legs and beast mode are slightly off, Starscream & Elita-1 have odd robot modes, Hun-Grrr's Beast mode is let down by the odd forelegs and Inferno is just a repaint. Probably Grimlock. Leader: VERY poor year for the vehicle leaders. Both originals have issues. Thankfully Op Op is superb, just a shame they couldn't engineer the cockpit to properly hold a Titanmaster sitting down. Anmd make the cockpit the right colour Combiner: Essentially this is Volcanicus vs Abominus and I think Abominus fractionally wins. The other three combiner, Elita Infin!te and Starscream & Inferno, whose combined modes are still unnamed, are all still missing limbs and relying on duplicates to complete them. There's hope for Elita Infin!te as Greenlight is definitely coming. Is it just me, or if you were wanting to encourage "Scramble City" combining, would it not be better to have an excess of limbs? Exclusive:POTP exclusives had a pretty stonking year. Nemesis Prime covers up many of the colour sins of the original and throws in a shed load of extra kits. Optimal Optimus goes a different direction to expected and completes the Primemasters although not their shells. The long awaited Blast Off is superb in the correct colours and even if the Wreck-Gar isn't Wreck-Gar enough for you - and for me seeing him through the CW filter he will do - you can use him as another Junkion. But I think the winner is Repugnus: extensive remould, completes the Monsterbots and provides a Titanmaster which gives you a choice of heads. The Prime Wars exclusives could have selected their Primemasters a bit better, why not do the missing three with them? WFC: SiegeBattlemaster: Lioniser. The two Targetmasters are very similar and he does something different. Micromaster: The Airstrike Patrol, but none of them set my world on fire. Deluxe: COG - superb, doesn something different and provides a missing piece for a previous toy. But all the deluxe are great. Voyager: Optimus, but only because more things annoy me on Megatron. Neither are great. Studio SeriesDeluxe: By default, SS18 VW BB. Voyager: - Leader: - Exclusive: Like both the BB SS sets with the tapes but that's only because they have tapes in. Studio Series is not my thing. Cyberverse:Scout: NONE OF THEM One Step: - Warrior: Shockwave. Only one I'v bought but he's quite fun. Ultra: Grimlock tempts me. Ultimate: - JAPAN:Legends: G2 Megatron/Archforce. Superb Masterpiece: Corden Exclusive: Greatshot GENERALWorst Toy: ANY OF THE CYBERVERSE SCOUTS! THEY DON'T F***ING TRANSFORM PROPERLY! Worst Toy You Bought: Counterpunch. The shoulder pieces annoy me. I don't really feel it represents POTP that well in the Prime Wars boxsets: if you're doing a deluxe it should be a combiner limb like the other POTP deluxe. Best Toy: BLOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2019 Toy You're Most Looking Forward To: Omega Supreme

Siege deluxes won't make it out in my area before 2019, but that doesn't stop them from being 2018 releases. True, but we're a UK site and what's out in the UK is our main guide. The December releases quite frequently have the following years dates on them, hence our continued flexibility there. And yeah, the list isn't 100% accurate (it lists the potp duocon as 2017, when they certainly came out this year for example), but it's certainly better than nothing. 2017 in HK IIRC. <checks> Singapore. Power of the Primes
Primemaster:
Metalhawk - easily the most attractively decoed for me. Bludgeon has quite a nice shell but the Primemaster is a bit lacklustre
Legend:
Slash - a fine addition to the Dinobots, matching the aesthetic well and having great fiddle-factor
Deluxe:
Swoop - a superb update which is not as compromised as I expected by either the combiner stuff or the blue chest. A really beautiful figure.
Voyager:
Hun-grrr by default for me. He's really not amazing as an individual toy, but Abominus is fantastic.
Leader:
n/a, bought none, wouldn't mind an OpOp but he's a bit too pricey at the moment
Combiner:
Abominus - possibly the best CW-style combiner so far in terms of combined mode?
Exclusive:
Blast-Off - love the colours, love the headsculpt, and as I've never put much stock in realism in Transformers neither the unusual colouring for the type of vehicle nor the scale with the other Combaticons has ever bothered me.
WFC: Siege
Battlemaster:
Blowpipe - much needed for TR Triggerhappy. Quite a solid-feeling little toy, too.
Micromaster:
n/a - but having seen them on the shelves the Decepticon jets look far and away the most appealing
Deluxe:
Flywheels - pretty much exactly what he needed to be, while also having good paint apps (yes, even the battle damage) and feeling very solid. Shame about the tabbing problem in tank mode, but generally Hasbro seems to have upped the QC.
Voyager:
n/a - from what I've seen Optimus takes it, but I find none of them very inspiring so far
Studio Series
all n/a - I might be tempted by a VW Bumblebee
Cyberverse:
all n/a - Windblade looks ok, as does Shockwave, but they would have to severely drop in price to tempt me
JAPAN:
Legends:
Targetmaster Windblade - a beautiful mould done justice with the additional paint apps, and Pinpointer is a pleasant surprise
Masterpiece:
n/a
Exclusive:
Golden Lagoon Beachcomber - I've been wanting a homage like this for years, and now there's a good toy to really deserve the shininess. I want to make a little plinth for him so he looks like a statue.
GENERAL
Worst Toy:
Not sure, but probably part of Abominus, maybe Sinnertwin.
Worst Toy You Bought:
See above
Best Toy:
POTP Swoop. Couldn't put him down at the start of the year. This year's Topspin for me in terms of a toy for which I had low expectations but which massively exceeded them all.
2019 Toy You're Most Looking Forward To:
At this point it might be red-chested Swoop, but if I had to pick a new mould I think possibly that recently revealed Studio Series Optimus Prime.

Power of the Primes
Primemaster: Metalhawk. A great little deco, and just beats other Primemasters like Bludgeon and Octopunch who, despite being great and interesting designs, lack the ability to see the smaller robot's face through the shell. I had fun with that. Legend: Slash. Just such a fun little design with a lot of personality. Deluxe: Blot. What other answer could there be? Voyager: A tough one, since none of them were particularly great. But Elita-1's a nice re-use of existing molds, and gives us a character we'd not had before. So... her. Leader: Optimus Prime. Whilst the truck mode is admittedly a bit of a mess, I love the idea behind the central gimmick at least. And in combined mode it's a solid figure, with a lot of playability. Combiner: Predaking. A mixed bag, really - very compromised individual robot modes, but a very solid combined form.
Exclusive: Throne of the Primes Optimus Primal. Despite the unimaginative alt-mode for the smaller robot, and a little clumsiness when he's combined with his larger, autonomous Ultra Pretender shell, he's still a lot of fun, especially with the amount of poseability and expressiveness he has in his two primate modes.
WFC: Siege
Battlemaster: Lionizer. Just 'cos he's different to what I've seen before. Micromaster: N/A - not handled any. Deluxe: A close one, but it has to be Cog. Just because, again, he's different and has a fun play pattern. The other wave one deluxes are all very solid, fun toys though. Voyager: Megatron. No reason.
Studio Series
Deluxe: Jazz. Just the best version we've had of the character so far, I think. Voyager: N/A. Turns out I've not actually handled any. Odd. Leader: Grimlock. Sure, the mold has flaws, but it's a great beast mode. Exclusive: Gold VW Bumblebee. Because he's a gold VW.
Cyberverse:
Scout: Megatron. Just can't stop fiddling with his gimmick. (Not a euphemism.) (Okay, maybe a euphemism.) One Step: N/A Warrior: Windblade. I like her spinny wing things. Ultra: Grimlock. I can't stop playing with his flame-breathing/sausage swallowing gimmick. (Also not a euphemism.) (Also maybe actually a euphemism.) Ultimate: Optimus Prime. Good, solid figure, and again, I can't stop spinning the Matrix in his chest.
JAPAN:
Legends: Megatron/Archforce. Not bought one, but I have acquired his Savage/Noble Titanmaster shell, so he'll do. Masterpiece: Dinobot. Don't have him, but was impressed when I handled the figure. Exclusive: Golden Lagoon Starscream. Again, I don't have one, but I've played with one and he's stupid and awful and I want him.
BOTBOT:
Individual: Frostferatu. A close one this, but he's got such a great little vampire face, and the best name.
GENERAL
Worst Toy: PottoP Jazz. Just so flimsy and disappointing. And also racist. Worst Toy You Bought: PottoP Jazz. Because of the above, and also the money I spent on him. Best Toy: Throne of the Primes Optimus Primal. A toy I keep going back to, and that keeps finding its way on to my desk at work. Love him. 2019 Toy You're Most Looking Forward To: Whatever one that gives me the ability to rid the world of self-interested, ecology-destroying neoliberal governments. That or, probably so far, Legends Mr. David Atlas.

Power of the Primes
Primemaster: They were all tosh. Legend: Does Battletrap count? Cuz, Battletrap. Deluxe: Uh, Slag. Voyager: NA Leader: Hun-Grr Combiner: NA
Exclusive: Punch. He's pretty good, really.
WFC: Siege
Battlemaster: NA Micromaster: I think Roadhandler takes this one for me, but it's close between him and Stormcloud. Deluxe: Skytread, easily. Voyager: NA
GENERAL
Worst Toy: Snarl. Maybe because I had a lot invested in finally seeing a Generations Snarl, and he was just underwhelming. He's not awful, but he's not what I wanted, from the teeny scale to his tail wings being backwards. Worst Toy You Bought: NA. I'm pretty careful about what I buy, so I tend not to buy the ones that look a bit naff. Best Toy: Not touched him myself, but bloody hell, that Masterpiece Dinobot, eh? 2019 Toy You're Most Looking Forward To: MP Hound
