In other news, Episode 7 starts filming in May, the media tells me. As these new ones are being set after Return of the Jedi (the promise from George of my childhood finally being given!) I have only one thing I want to see. Just one fan demand. I just want to see Mark Hamill as an older Luke Skywalker. I don't care if it's just in one of the new films. I don't care if it's a minor role. I don't care if it's even just a 2 minute spit and cough (like Tom Baker in Doctor Who's 50th). I'd be happy with that. It's all I want. I don't need it announced in advance. A surprise appearance would be ideal. Anything else would be a bonus!

I also am in the 'Mark Hamil returning as Luke Skywalker' camp. Quite passionately infact. I'd go so far as to say it's pivotal to linking the films series together, and as such I'd like to see Luke as a major character.

New films can still be great without him in it but if you're setting up stories after 'Jedi' you do have to address the elephant in the room which would be: "But what happened to Luke Skywalker?"

I suspect casting announcements will come soon but I'm quite surprised it is so close to shooting and the only character confirmed is R2-D2. One announcement today was that it will get a IMAX release.

I'll only be excited if it is 2d. When a film is released in 3d and 2d in IMAX, the Edinburger theatre will only show the 3d version in that format. I don't do 3d so annoyingly have passed on seeing many films in IMAX that I would liked to have seen on the big big screen!

Oh God 2D only, please. I hate 3D.

One Princess, Wookie or Smuggler more or less you can walk away from, but Jedi have been built up into such a "thing" in the Star Wars universe that you have to address the question of "And after Luke, then?" Ok, ok. Don't many of the actors. But ok.
No Billy Dee?

There's still hope for Billy Dee in a future film perhaps. Or he may yet appear in a smaller role (he is in his late 70's). I am sure episode 7 has more than 8 actors in it.

I kind of hope hes saved for a future film (and with one a year likely for the foreseeable future, it doesnt have to be a long wait) rather than crammed in somewhere for the sake of it. I mean if he is in it great, but if anything the films already feels very full with a half dozen original trilogy stars and the new cast on top.

Not checked the links, but... actual sets instead of green screens on a soundstage? Lucas must surely be regretting selling with such madness.

Actual sets from the look of it.

I had read that they were planning on using more 'real' sets as oppose to computer generated. I welcome this.

I was debating whether to click the link or not (avoiding spoilers), but I'm glad I did. The picture brings joy and reminds of the behind the scenes photos of ye olde times.

Yes I had a similar hesitation, but we knew tge Falcon was bound to be in it.
I am just so happy that it's not all cgi, like eps I - III, which have that 'unreal' cgi look to them in places.

Has anyone mentioned anywhere that Episode 7 apparently now has a name?
STAR WARS THE FORCE AWAKENS.
Err, yeah, sounds ok to me. Interesting even.

Ok. Not bad. Me like so far. Plenty of concerns remain, but, it seemed very 'real worldy'. Good. Ok. There's another trailer kicking about as well on Youtube.
