That I like a lot. But OOOH my word. This has kicked the hype up a notch and the film is still over a year away. Is the whole of 2015 going to be Star Wars build up frenzy?
I am absolutely NOT getting sucked back into toy buying. I just can't (That's been helped by an inspection of the 3.75 inch figures for Rebels. I'm enjoying that but those small scale figures are terrible. The TF Commander scale may be limited, but in comparison they're in a different class). But I quite like the idea of sampling some of the new novels post Disney reset if they're claiming they're part of the 'new' canon. Has anyone seen a list anywhere of Disney era books? I see the new Tarkin one is getting good reviews.

No I'm not buying figures/toys. I've got a large collection of modern figs from the original trilogy. That's me. I'd consider basey type things, but that's it. I reserve the right to change my mind though!
Like the trailer very much. Seemed to have a very adult vibe. Serious tone to it. Good. So yes, let the year of maddness begin!

Enjoyed the trailer, and the hype machine is going to go into overdrive by August.
I might not buy many of the figures but old man Luke Skywalker is a must have.

In a 'this is the footage we could finish in time for a teaser' way it looked fine to me. Stormtroopers, desert, a daft voiceover, beeping droid, X-Wings and the Millennium Falcon. That'll do for me. A long 12 months await.

I remember the prequels and all the muck that's come out of SW in the past couple of decades. I was determined that I would not get excited about the new movies. I would wait for the reviews.
I lasted until the exterior shot of the x-wings. Grinning like an idiot for the rest of the trailer.
I think I'll watch it again!
When "THE FORCE AWAKENS" came up at the end, I felt like it should have said "DOING IT RIGHT THIS TIME" instead.

Just imagine how our brains will explode when a future trailer shows Luke Skywalker and the old gang.

I wasn't planning on getting any figures, but I might have to make an exception for the football droid. Decent enough teaser though the "December 2015" at the end was kind of depressing. But I quite like the idea of sampling some of the new novels post Disney reset if they're claiming they're part of the 'new' canon. Has anyone seen a list anywhere of Disney era books? I see the new Tarkin one is getting good reviews. Wookieepedia has a list of canon books here. There's also a list of everything canon here.

Still not sure why they've gone with the subtitle in the middle of the large logo instead of classic style.

Any remaining cynicism regarding Episode 7 completely evaporated when I was sitting in an IMAX theatre earlier and the teaser we've all seen online came on and the Millennium Falcon swooshed past on the big big screen and I felt the roar of the engines through my seat.
Yes. Fuck yes.

Yes! I saw the trailer before The Hobbit and got exactly that. Hairs on the neck, eyes welling up, I was gripping the arms of the seat and didn't even realise. Last time I got that feeling was when Optimus transformed for the first time in the first film.
All went downhill from there of course, but it's not going to with this! Oh no!

I hate to be That Guy but I deeply dislike the Stormtrooper helmets. Just a small niggle though. Not a big deal.
Though the lack of 'Episode VII' in the title does wind me up. Sorry!
*punches ground*
Han looks ancient in a way Ford didn't in Indy IV.

The Trooper helmets don't really work for me either. I also don't think that they go terribly well with the aesthetic of the rest of the suit - it retains that clean functionality of the original Stormtrooper suits but these helmets look more obviously "designed". The Pilot helmet doesn't look great either - the fact that it appears to have sockets on both sides but only one air house makes it unbalanced visually. They should have relocated the hose to the centre like on conventional pilot helmets. I don't mind Ford looking old though - in fact, I think it works quite well for Han. A risk-taker, pirate, smuggler and general congenital maverick and he's managed to survive to that age? Not only has he earned every line on that face but his living that long makes me even more inclined to decide he is a guy I want on my side.
I do like the build-up old Luke is getting. I get a kind of "reclusive martial arts master" or "near-mythical ronin" feel to him.
The opening pan is superb - not only saying "don't worry, this is Star Wars", but also "Not that Star Wars, this is it's heir" in a lovely visual way.
The more I see the more I think that this is finally the J.J Abrams film I am actually going to really enjoy.

At the very least the trailers look like Star Wars. Abrams seems to get it in a way he didn't with Star Trek so it looks as though it could work out well for both franchise.

I never noticed the pilot helmet issue.
I do like Han being old. It was just a bit of a shock visually!
Only proper disappointment for me with the trailers is the notice that it's in 3d. Now plenty of 2d showings will be available as is the way with these things but I had wanted to watch it in IMAX. For the Edinburger IMAX when a film is available in 3d and 2d they only ever show the 3d version. Shame to miss it on the big big screen (Ralph does not do 3d) but hey ho.
I imagine my SW mania will ignite properly when the Ultron movie is out the way. They'll be no-one to stop us this time!
But Chewie is alive! FU Expanded Universe pish!!!

Like others I'm not liking the new Stormtrooper helmets, but otherwise it's raised my interest in the film. Spent a few days watching the Celebration livestream (though I rarely saw it live) which has definitely put me in a Star Wars mood. A couple of other trailers were shown over the weekend: Rebels - Season 2 I've yet to watch season 1, but that looks good. Rogue One teaser (no official upload so here's a low quality version) A few more details about the film here.
