Maybe "commander class" are a return to old school leaders, or are halfway between leader and supreme?
There's not a lot left to do for combiner sets. I can only think of three offhand that don't require CWIII to provide wholly new molds for. (G2 defensor, pretender monsters, dino king) And relabelling a box set set of multiple toys as the singular "Commander" seems a bit odd.
Either way, we'll find out in a few weeks.

Plot Twist: "Commander Class" isn't referring to a new price point, but a new character named Commander Class, the leader of Cybertron's Limousine Corps.

Commander Class...
You know something like Scorponok would be decent at a size between Leader and Titan.... I'd been wondering for a while if WFC II might be something Headmaster related

That Jetfire is amazing! Oh wow! But how even more amazing would it be with a little less detail and no mud spray.

The sizes in this line make me feel drunk Voyagers and Leaders both have been shrunk But now there's a new size class it just gets weirder Is Commander class the same as the old leader?

11", that puts him around eye to eye with the CW combiners. According to my 12" Black Canary figure. He's bigger than the already too big CW jetfire. That is unreasonably huge for a someone better suited to a voyager.

Hmmm, yes CJ, that is a concern. If he's too big, for old sizes I'll yearn.

The original toy, and cartoon appearance, was big in comparison to all the other toys. Leader was 6 years back now and this is very cartoon model compared to the other's toy jet form.

Indeed - this is basically the first time that Skyfire has been done (I know they are calling it Jetfire, but basically it is very on model for Skyfire). Bearing in mind that Skyfire was a huge transport aircraft/spacecraft (and when I say huge I mean ridiculously large if you look at the sheer mass of vehicles he can carry) and kept those proportions in his humanoid mode (Compared to Jetfire who turned into a fairly small aircraft - on the kind of size of an Eurofighter or an F-16). Given that I think the size point they've chosen is fairly appropriate for Skyfire.

That is unreasonably huge for a someone better suited to a voyager. Coo, you're right. 11" makes him the same height as Abominus. I know Skyfire was massive in the cartoon, seriously big, but that might be a bit odd next to the new Siege voyagers. However it does make me wonder if this is a new size class - might this be where we finally get a Scorponok? I could go an 11" Scorponok.

Phil did raise this possibility when the posts on the class were in the leaks and rumours thread - they're here now the class is confirmed Commander Class... The original toy, and cartoon appearance, was big in comparison to all the other toys. Leader was 6 years back now and this is very cartoon model compared to the other's toy jet form. Yeah but this is the same toyline in which Blaster was bigger than Devastator. So toy size isn't a great example. But then I've always found the "skyfire" animation model to be hideous and inelegant. As a kid, I never understood why he was so ugly, and looked nothing like this awesome toy I had of him. To me, it's not jetfire without his iconic booster rockets. I wish they'd started the commander class with Tidalwave. I could support the class at launch, and not feel bad about skipping "skyfire." The rest of the reveals, I honestly have no comment. It's established this line doesn't photograph well, while the CG renders do it no favors either. There's nothing really exciting. Accurate update of Mirage that looks just like his "earth" design, even though he's supposed to be futuristic/alien. We expected that. I didn't know what to expect from impactor, but somehow that's it: an earth tank. I'm sure like Optimus, Sideswipe, and Skytread, that these will all be amazing fun once in hand. But like Optimus, and Sideswipe, and Hound, and Prowl... they're just not very exciting reveals. The best surprise is Countdown.

I don't understand the love that the fandom has for Skyfire. And personally I've had no problem with the previous two Jetfire toys. If the Commander class is to be a thing, there are far more deserving characters that could use the slot. As the Skyfire episode was one of the few to make it on to UK tv in the mid 80s I have a soft spot for the Skyfire design (though I agree its not really great) and also the character and backstory thats seperate from Jetfire. So even if Generations Jetfire was more recent than it is (bloody hell 6 years!!) I wouldnt object. As for size, while its is a mixed bag when it comes to Blaster or Fort Max, Jetfire/Skyfire was consistantly big in toy, comic and cartoon appearances. Plus I imagine the 11 inches incudes the back pack so at head height he wont be quite that tall. Detailing looks about right to me.

The best thing about this reveal for me was that I picked up Big Phil’s message about it just after we’d been denied entry to Mordor due to bad weather. (Yeah I know - there are worse problems to have.)
Jetfire's a conundrum . Much like the Kaptain I really like the T30 Jetfire; well the design, anyway - some executions leave much to be desired. From a design point of view though, he was a really nice bridge between the various different versions of Jetfire, and gave us everything we wanted in one nice package. He’s really good for that.
So now this new version. Yes, he’s an actual realisation of Skyfire/Marvel Jetfire. On the other hand, he’s not as interesting visually as T30 Jetfire. But on that first hand, I have a massive nostalgic soft spot for Marvel Jetfire, because his introduction in the comics was such a massive thing, with the part he played in the whole victory-of-Shockwave storyline. And he was menacing, in a way that Devastator, the other result of that story, was oddly not. But the way his robot mode was drawn in the comics was always slightly less bulky than he appeared in the cartoon. So that’s a negative point. But he does also look fun. So there’s a conundrum...

I posted the Winter Wonderfest preview pics link elsewhere, but Jetfire's there - which explains the early release of the preview pics this week - and you can see how big he is snakas.blog95.fc2.com/blog-entry-6956.html
