What's different about both of those? Sometimes Inferno has a Grapple styled head, only coloured black. Comic used that one most often, but he has his toy head in that Annual text story. Cartoon is mostly based on the toy, but the Grapple head pops up once or twice. By G2 he’s got the cartoon head, only painted red!

I'm going with cartoon on this one. The black version is just Sideswipes head. (Ignoring the existence of Sideswipe though, I admit the black looks more balanced). Is there an original mould Red Alert done with a red head (and hands) I'm suspecting there might be an exclusive somewhere that is. With CHUG the Henkei version, which came first, was red and the Generations black. Are red hands significant? According to wiki, there's never been a version of him with red hands. There's never been a red headed version of the original mold, either that isn't g2 sideswipe. I suspect it's because it isn't possible without changing all the black to red.

Yeah, Inferno had a red face in TFU and the later UK comics.

Yes, they're on the same sprue as the head. When the head changes to red on G2 Sideswipe the hands change too

Oh that's what you mean! Thought you were talking about him having some rare fictional appearance with red hands.

That's the head on the instruction sheet, which was probably handed to the artist as a ref.

Am I right in thinking Grapple is the only Diaclone Autobot left with a major Toy/Cartoon/Comic difference to his head? See post 1 for a list of toys we've done already Sunstreaker and Tracks need doing. Tracks is complicated - does he have a mouth, and is his face black or red? Martin Is Sunstreaker anything more than the curve of the ears? Tracks is faceplate for toy and mouth for cartoon/comic iirc The black is only on the boxart isn't it?

They're quite different shapes, especially at the base which doesn't curve inwards at all in the toy. And the toy has horizontal stripes inside the 'ears'. Yep. He had a grey face in 'Devastation Derby' and 'Target: 2006', I think. The neck and base of the head? Yeah. And if you like the little guns instead of missile launchers attached to his head. Martin

That Skywarp design always makes me think he has borrowed Edmund Blackadder's 'ear muffs'...

Rhyming week has infected me. I read 'Thundercrucker' then. Which doesn't even rhyme with Huffer anyway.

I love it.

Before Cerebros was even a thing! That's how forward-thinking this Huffer guy is!
Anyway, difficult one for me this, since although clearly the answer *should* be his toy/Enemy Within head, I for some reason never paid much attention to the shape of his or Sideswipe's heads, and as a result they're mostly a hole in my mind. So I'm mostly drawn to the Marvel model as a result. But also not...

I'm still trying to work out HOW Huffer is actually holding those two Decepticon Jets. How he warps physics is astounding!

Apart from having two arms etc is there anything in that design that comes from anything Huffer? The truck grill seems to be on his chest but I just can't make anything else out. And you can bet all the children that own this book have Coloured him in green and red.
